Don’t be fooled by a knock-off. 👀
Look the same, don’t they? Look again.
We’re starting to see more knock-off DO35-style tow pins and accessories making their way into Australia — and unfortunately, looking the part doesn’t mean they’ll perform like the real thing.
We’ve now seen this particular scenario more than once.
A customer purchases a second tow pin online to use with their genuine Cruisemaster DO35 Coupling. What arrives looks similar, but it isn’t a genuine DO35 Tow Pin — like these Guider ZDO36 and Husch pins.
And that small difference can become a very big problem.
One customer discovered this on the very first hookup. After the weight of the trailer was applied, the non-genuine pin became jammed inside the DO35 coupling.
A few solid hits with a hammer couldn’t free it. Eventually, the entire coupling had to be unbolted from the drawbar and coupling replaced just so they could leave camp. 😬
The coupling and pin eventually made their way to Cruisemaster for our Quality Team to investigate. Thats where it was discovered to be a non-genuine pin that was slightly larger than the genuine DO35 Tow Pin, contributing to it becoming extremely tight once loaded.
The moral of the story?
Don’t risk ruining a holiday to save a few dollars.
When purchasing replacement DO35 Tow Pins or accessories, make sure you’re buying genuine Cruisemaster products from a reputable retailer.
They might look the same at first glance. They’re not.
