FD i30 – Transmission diagnosis & repair
In for harsh and delayed gear engagement. We diagnosed an internal valve body fault, removed and replaced the valve body, flushed the transmission fluid and carried out the required learning procedures. Back on the road and shifting smoothly!

Hyundai Kona N – Annual service
Carried out its annual service with fresh engine oil and filter. Another happy Hyundai running perfectly!

Hyundai i30 N – 120,000km Service
Completed its 120k service, including fuel filter replacement. We also carried out a smoke test on the intake system to check for any air leaks and ensure everything was in good shape.

Here’s a look at a couple of recent jobs.

2015 Hyundai Santa Fe DM
Customer reported the vehicle slipping between gears with multiple incorrect gear ratio faults. Our diagnosis confirmed excessive transmission slipping, with dark transmission fluid and visible clutch material indicating significant internal wear and failed clutch packs.

✅ Complete gearbox replacement
✅ Transmission learning procedures carried out
✅ Differential splines renewed due to excessive wear
✅ AWD engagement restored and tested

2017 Hyundai Tucson
In for intermittent stalling along with engine oil and transmission oil leaks.

✅ Crank angle sensor replaced
✅ Transmission fluid flush carried out
✅ Valve body cover gasket replaced
✅ Engine oil sump resealed

Both vehicles diagnosed, repaired and back on the road. 👌

Another Hyundai Tucson with bottom-end knock, excessive oil consumption and poor engine performance.

After diagnosis, we found scoring on the cylinder walls and excessive piston-to-bore clearance.

🔧 Removed and replaced the engine with a genuine short motor

🔧 Replaced all required gaskets and seals

🔧 Cylinder head serviced, including decking and pressure testing

🔧 Valve stem seals replaced

🔧 Engine fully reassembled and tested

🔧 Adjustment of records carried out for engine number change

The Tucson is now back on the road running perfectly!

Workshop weekly wrap-up!

🔧 PD i30 N Line — Dual clutch pack replaced due to excessive shudder. Clutch actuator initialisation adjustment carried out. Now driving smoothly and shifting perfectly.

🔧 2022 i30 N — 30,000km service completed, map update carried out, injector cleaner added and 2 fresh tyres fitted.

🔧 Lexus RX450h — Towed in with no start condition, electric mode not engaging. Diagnosed blocked fuel filter and weak injector flow. Removed the fuel tank to access the in-tank filter, replaced the filter, removed the intake manifold and EGR cooler assembly, replaced all 6 spark plugs and carried out an on-car injector clean. All back together and running perfectly!

🔧 Isuzu MU-X, 6-speed transmission service including filter, new pan gasket and fluid flush. Transmission adaptive values reset, with the transmission now shifting smoother than ever.

Lexus IS F – Overheating issue diagnosed, radiator replaced and service carried out

Toyota Crown V8 – Spark plug and diff oil replacement

Ford Kuga – Electric thermostat housing replaced due to coolant leak

Toyota Camry V6 – Rocker cover gaskets and spark plugs replaced

Kicking off the week with a look at some recent jobs🔧

✅ Mazda BT-50 – Diagnosed a 1st gear incorrect ratio fault, traced the issue to a failed gearbox, completed a gearbox replacement carried out adaptive learning/ re learn procedures.

✅ Holden Captiva – Customer’s states drive belt had snapped. After inspection, we found the harmonic balancer had collapsed and separated. Replaced the balancer and carried out final testing – all back to normal.

✅ Hyundai Kona – Replaced a faulty cornering lamp globe and confirmed correct operation.

✅ Honda Accord – Towed into the workshop with a charging issue. Diagnosed a failed alternator, replaced it, and had the vehicle back on the road the same day.

✅ Mitsubishi Outlander – Completed a comprehensive 180,000 km service to keep it running reliably for many more kilometres.

Another Complex Electrical Fault Diagnosed & Repaired Successfully!

This 2022 Hyundai i30 N Line arrived at our workshop on a tow truck with some serious electrical issues:

❌ Ignition would not switch off.
❌ Vehicle would not start.
❌ ABS warning light illuminated.
❌ Multiple system communication faults.

After carrying out a complete diagnostic scan, we identified numerous CAN Bus communication faults across multiple control modules. Through extensive electrical testing, module isolation, and network diagnosis, we traced the fault to:

An internally shorted brake booster vacuum pump assembly.

Water ingress and corrosion within the wiring harness.

Damaged wiring insulation causing network interference.

Our repair included:
✅ Replacement of the faulty brake booster vacuum pump assembly and harness.

✅ Repair and re-insulation of damaged harness wiring.

✅ Removal of corrosion and restoration of electrical connections.

✅ Clearing and verification of all fault codes.

✅ Comprehensive post-repair testing and road test.

Result:
✔ Vehicle starts and operates normally.
✔ Ignition switch-off function fully restored.
✔ CAN Bus communication faults eliminated.

2017 Ford Ranger in with multiple issues including intake manifold gasket failure, glow plug faults and excessive carbon build up throughout the intake system.

After diagnosis we carried out:
✔️ Intake manifold gasket replacement
✔️ Glow plug replacement
✔️ Full intake system carbon clean
✔️ Cleared faults and carried out final testing

The amount of carbon build up in these diesels can seriously affect performance, fuel economy and reliability if left too long. This Ranger is now back on the road running smooth and breathing properly again.👌
