Greetings.

After my week off previously I am better, and I thank all you for your best wishes.

Despite that, many of you would have noticed I am doing half days now to manage my recovery better.

For those who have been inconvinenced, I am sorry.

With the Easter break now on, I look forward to seeing you all after Tuesday 7th.

Again, thank you for your understanding and I'll see you all soon.

Paul.

Greetings.

Hope you are all well.

Those of you who have been in the shop recently may have noticed that I have not been well, and struggling to get things done.

I have been trying to work through it all, but I have decided to close the shop for one week, from Monday 16th to Friday 20th February to give me time to clear my head and get some help.

I will reopen Monday 23rd.
My intention is to be in the shop on an ad-hoc basis during that week.
Please call first if you wish to visit the shop.

Please note all bikes are securely locked in the shop. If you would like to access your bike, please call and arrangements can be made.

I realise this is short notice, and some customers have been waiting for their bikes.
This is not a decision taken lightly, as I usually close only on public holidays and the Christmas/New year break.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding.

Paul.

I see this so often.

Too lazy, or too stupid, to replace a sump plug washer.

The answer?
Tighten it until the washer deforms and end up with a sump plug so tight I had to use a long breaker bar to loosen.

I'm surprised the thread wasn't stripped.

Stuff like this is so common.

And in today's episode of"I'm a temporary Australian"Cheers, Paul.

Cheers,
Paul.

Greetings all.

Been a while since I posted anything.

Had to do something I really don't like today.

I had to call a customer and tell him his bike is a lost cause.
It was one of those generic cheaply made Chinese bikes that are sold here under numerous names.

It was in pretty poor condition, and the cost of the work it needed would've been more than its realistic value.

He wasn't too happy about it, but I've been down this road before. You do the work and the cost is near or equal to the value of the bike.

The customers either have a cry and start pleading for a discount or acccusing me of ripping them off.
They have no idea of its real value, or have hopelessly unrealistic expectations.
The worst thing is when the bike is abandoned and I'm lumbered with a cheap bike where I won't see the money it owes me.
I had 3 abandoned bikes in the shop at one stage, plus one a while ago.
I have about $5K in lost revenue form these circumstances.

I have to tell people the truth about their bike. They don't like it, but I'm not here to blow sunshine up someones arse.

Its all part of running a business.

Cheers, Paul.

And in todays episode of

Why can't you just patch it?

I present you with this.

The spanners are just for explanation. This tyre had multiple rips in the sidewall and was way beyond saving. The customer at first insisted on a patch.....He was riding on it while completely flat....

UPDATE. The customers name is Dan Needham. If you are seeing this Dan, please contact me.
If anyone knows Dan Needham, please ask to him to contact me.

Greetings all.

A while ago, I had a customer with a first model Honda Varadero XL 1000V.

After dismantling the bike, the owner retreived it.

He left behind the LH and RH fairings.

If you are the owner, or you may know him, please contact me to pick up the fairings.

Cheers.

Unfortunately, I will be on limited duties over the next few days.

A "failure to maintain an upright condition" on the Kawasaki last night means I now have a very sore right leg.

While do have some very limited mobility, I cannot put any weight on it and this means I am unable to move bikes around, or stand for any length of time, which are severe limitations in my shop.

I intend to be in the shop as I am able to, and I hope to be more mobile by early next week.

The bikes OK, thanks for asking. 🙂
