We’ve recently been nominating our team for a range of awards, and one of those nominations was for the CDU Alumni Awards - for none other than our own Beckie. While putting the submission together, we realised just how much she does for our workshop, our customers, and our community… and we wanted to share a little of that with you.

Beckie is the owner, manager, lead qualified mechanic, and truck driver at Berry Springs Mechanical - and the leader our whole team looks up to. Her industry knowledge is exceptional, and she’s the first to step in with a solution, whether it’s in the workshop, out on a roadside breakdown, or helping someone online. Customer care is always her top priority, and it shows in everything she does.

Beyond running the workshop, Beckie has built an impressive list of achievements and industry recognition over the years. She’s regularly approached by local media for her expertise, and her “Bec’s Basics” workshops have become a valued community program, helping people of all ages learn essential vehicle skills.

But what truly sets Beckie apart is her generosity and commitment to giving back. From donations and sponsorships to supporting local events, clubs, and charities, she’s always finding ways to support the community she loves.

We’re incredibly proud of the leader, mentor, and community champion she is - and we think she’s more than deserving of this award.

A common issue we see is brake lights staying on even after you’ve turned the key off and walked away. Many people disconnect the battery to stop it going flat, only to find the lights still stuck on next time they drive.

The problem is a tiny grommet on the brake pedal - about the size of a 5 to 10 cent piece. Over time it deteriorates, breaks apart, and often ends up on the floor.
The fix? A simple upholstery clip does the job perfectly.

Fun fact:
People used to glue a coin to the brake pedal as a DIY replacement. We’ve come a long way since then!

Those noises are usually your car’s way of saying your maintenance is overdue, and you might be heading toward a loose tyre, a blown wheel bearing, or something far more catastrophic.
