A Flashlube catch can is there to stop oily crankcase vapours from going back into your engine’s intake. Simple idea, big long-term benefits—especially on modern 4WD diesels.

Here’s what it actually does in the real world 👇

🛢️ Traps oil mist & blow-by gases

Your engine vents pressure from the crankcase (blow-by). That vapour contains oil mist.
Without a catch can, that oily air gets sent straight back into the intake.

A Flashlube catch can:
Separates oil droplets from the vapour
Collects the oil in the can
Sends cleaner air back into the intake

🔥 Reduces carbon buildup
Oil + EGR gases = nasty carbon sludge.

By keeping oil out of the intake, a catch can helps:
Reduce intake manifold clogging
Slow carbon buildup on intake valves
Keep throttle bodies, MAP sensors & intercoolers cleaner

This is huge on common-rail diesels.

🚙 Protects turbo & intercooler

Oil vapour coats:
Turbo compressor wheels
Intercooler cores

Over time this:
Reduces cooling efficiency
Affects boost response
Can shorten turbo life

A catch can keeps that oil out of the system.

A set of fresh CV shafts from recently were installed into this Volkswagen Amarok in our workshop.

The other ones were well past their use by date with gaping rips & grease everywhere from the boots!

We do get asked about boot replacement only but we always recommend a complete replacement shaft.

Replacing a boot is almost always more expensive in the long run & no guarantees that the shaft will not fail.

Start fresh with a new complete unit!

Theres a lot going on currently around Victoria. A reminder today is a FIRE BAN Day!!

Please stay safe no matter where you are over the next few days. The cool change expected later will provide relief but brings its own risks with increased lightening activity especially in Alpine regions.

If you are out bush, please be vigilant & if unsure leave before its too late. Regularly check in with family or follow emergency related apps.

End of an ERA!

Superior Outback Tourer kits into the V8 79 Series Landcruisers under Second Stage Manufacturing ended this year.

With a November deadline the push was on to get them done before the new emissions laws came into effect.

No more V8 79s can have these kits done.... well unless we can convince Vicroads that 4 inch & 35's on a registered 79 isnt the devils work!

So some fun stats from this years builds.
