Imagine buying shoes for your car…
You wouldn’t put a pair of shoes that are too small on your feet.
And you probably wouldn’t wear shoes three sizes too big just because they looked good. 😅
Your car is no different.
Tyres are your car’s shoes. They are the only part of your vehicle that actually touches the road.
Look at the side of your tyre and you might see something like:
225/45R18
It may look like a confusing combination of numbers and letters, but it actually tells a story:
225 → How wide the tyre is
45 → How tall the sidewall is compared with its width
R → Radial construction
18 → The size of the wheel it fits
Getting the right tyre size isn't just about making the tyre fit the wheel.
It can affect your grip, braking, handling, comfort, speed and overall driving experience.
For example, if your car is designed around a certain tyre diameter and you fit a larger overall diameter, the tyre travels further with every rotation.
That means your speedometer may say 100 km/h, while your actual speed could be different.
Go smaller, and the opposite can happen.
So next time you're buying tyres, don't just ask:
❌ “What’s the cheapest tyre?”
Ask:
✅ “Is this the correct size for my car?”
Because when it comes to tyres, the right fit matters.
🚗 Your car deserves the right shoes.
