From Road to Roots: Building Sustainably in the Barossa.

A collaboration between Tyrepower Munno Para and Ballycroft Wines in the Barossa Valley is giving used tyres a meaningful second life.

Rather than ending up in landfill, second-hand tyres are being repurposed to build an earthship wall for Ballycroft’s new Cellar Door. Packed tightly with earth, they form strong, durable building blocks that provide natural thermal mass — helping regulate temperatures through South Australia’s hot summers and cooler months.

It’s sustainability in action — turning waste into structure, supporting local industry, and laying the foundation for a new chapter in Barossa winemaking.
The whole project is likely to re purpose around 900 x 205/55R16 (size only) tyres.
