Bumper repair? Check the radar calibration requirements.

Forward radar sensors are often positioned in or behind the vehicle’s front bumper or grille. Depending on the vehicle, they may support adaptive cruise control, collision warnings and automatic emergency braking.

After collision damage, structural repairs, bumper or grille removal, or work affecting the radar and its mounting area, calibration aiming is required.

The exact requirements vary between manufacturers and models so the vehicle specific OEM procedure should always be checked during repair planning.

New windscreen? Don’t overlook the camera calibration.

Many modern vehicles have a forward facing camera mounted near the top of the windscreen. Depending on the vehicle, this camera may support lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation systems.

After replacing the windscreen or removing and refitting the camera, the manufacturer’s procedure may require a static calibration, dynamic calibration or both.

Before releasing the vehicle, always identify the fitted ADAS technology and follow the exact OEM repair and calibration requirements.
