WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE TO RUA …
The Road Users Association (RUA) is an informal organisation that has been formed by interested parties, mainly from the motoring industry and legal profession, to positively influence the unreasonable behaviour of the ZRP at their numerous check points throughout the country.
On a national level:
The positive reports from motorists posting on Dear ZRP indicate a significant improvement in the treatment of motorists at check points on the major roads: Harare to Kariba, Bulawayo and Mutare. However within Harare and in certain small towns that have become notorious ‘hot spots’, blatant lying, bullying and use of extortion tactics are still disturbingly common.
The ZRP individuals concerned should be guided by their conscience, or the high standard of training and discipline that the Zimbabwe Republic Police was internationally recognised for. If not, we will have to rely on the LEGAL SYSTEM to improve the behaviour of unprofessional individuals, and an environment that enables unfair play. The CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of every motorist in Zimbabwe must be respected. RUA needs your ongoing donations to support any LEGAL ACTION.
On a localised level:
RUA has implemented its stated objective of upgrading ‘hot spot’ intersections, which are confusing, dangerous and prone to excessive ‘fining’. The Groombridge intersection in Harare has been successfully upgraded and the Hellenic Junior School is in progress. Current and future projects will require FUNDING, which will be achieved through LOCAL fund-raising activities. The donations received in the CABS, Stanbic and EcoCash accounts will all be used for the national, legal effort via Webb, Low & Barry
IN ADDITION TO DONATING, HOW YOU CAN HELP:
If you have experienced an incident in which your rights were undermined and you wish to play a supporting role, this is your opportunity to achieve a positive outcome for your fellow road users.
The lawyer handling the case is David Coltart, Senior Partner of Webb, Low and Barry, Bulawayo. Mr Coltart can be contacted on [email protected] should any person have any queries about the nature of the case, the need for evidence and issues concerning funds required to institute the proposed court proceedings.
In the first instance, email your details to [email protected] An RUA representative will contact you to guide you through the process, for ultimate referral to Webb, Low and Barry.
WE APOLOGISE FOR THE DELAY IN RESPONDING TO CORRESPONDENCE ALREADY RECEIVED. This is due to the large volume of correspondence being processed and ask you to bear with us.
A large endeavour cannot be achieved with small means. Help by SHARING this appeal for support and funding; let’s spread the word.
We look forward to your positive and urgent support …
Thank you,
The Road Users Association
