Today’s incident was another reminder of the value of teamwork in emergency care.

While responding to a separate emergency, the ConCERT team came across an additional road traffic accident and initiated immediate assistance. We are grateful to the Discovery Ambulance Services crew who promptly responded, took over patient care, and safely conveyed the casualty to hospital for further treatment.

Professional partnerships such as these help ensure that casualties receive timely and appropriate care when every minute matters.

Thank you to the Discovery Ambulance Services team for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to saving lives. Convergence Community Emergency Response Team acknowledges their services and appreciate the vital role they continue to play in our emergency medical system.

Today, we had the privilege and honour of attending the World Bicycle Day commemorations held at Oriel Girls High School in Chisipite, where His Worship, the Mayor of Harare, Councillor Jacob Mafume, was the Guest of Honour, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and other distinguished guests.

As ConCERT (Convergence Community Emergency Response Teams), we were delighted to be part of such an important event that promotes health, road safety, environmental consciousness, and community wellness through cycling.

The occasion also gave us an opportunity to engage with His Worship and share more about the work we do as a community-based emergency response initiative, providing pre-ambulance first aid assistance, emergency response support, and life-saving training within our communities. We were humbled and encouraged by the Mayor’s positive response and appreciation of the work being done by our volunteers and partners.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Sam Nyaude from Roadsafe Zimbabwe, who was part of the organising team and played an important role in making the event a success. Thank you for your continued commitment towards promoting road safety awareness and community engagement.

Events like these remind us of the importance of building safer, healthier, and more prepared communities through collaboration, awareness, and active citizen participation.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the organisers, Oriel Girls High School, participants, cyclists, stakeholders, and everyone who continues to support initiatives that promote safety, wellness, and community resilience.

Every day, ConCERT volunteers respond to emergencies across Zimbabwe using their own vehicles, time, skills, and limited resources all in an effort to save lives before professional ambulance services arrive.

Behind every road traffic accident, medical emergency, drowning, collapse, or trauma scene is a family praying for help to arrive in time.

Sometimes, those first few minutes determine whether someone lives or dies.

We are doing everything we can as a community-driven emergency response team, but the reality is this: we cannot do it alone.
