We recently had a 2010 VW Polo (CBZ engine) come in with a persistent coolant light. The reservoir was full, but the coolant looked more like a chocolate milkshake than G13 pink.

The Diagnosis: Oil was migrating into the cooling system.
The Culprit: A failed oil cooler and seal

Many people jump straight to "Blown Head Gasket," but on these 1.2 TSIs, the oil cooler is the usual suspect.
