For 17 years, Taurayi Raymond Sewera mastered automotive repair entirely on his own learning directly under the hood before ever stepping into a formal classroom.

Today, operating out of Harare, Zimbabwe, Taurayi is one of fewer than 2,100 technicians globally to achieve ASE World Class Technician status, having earned certification across 22 specialty areas. His work ranges from rebuilding heavy earthmoving equipment from the chassis up to diagnosing the latest high-voltage systems on EVs.

In our latest World Class Wednesday feature, Taurayi reflects on his 30-year journey, the evolution of diagnostic technology, and what continuous learning means to him.

Hey guys, I am very happy to share with you my story to becoming ASE and AutoCare Association Certified World Class Technician, which was published Today by Motor Age Magazine. A Big Thanks to Jim Morton , Sheri Hamilton , Tony Molla , Rick Escalambre , G Jerry Truglia , Dave Hobbs , Richard Krieger , Rusty Flake , Scott Brown , Brandon Steckler , Brin Kline , James D. Halderman, Jorge Menchu , VISION HiTech Training & Expo, just to mention a few. Without the support from these guys none of this would have been possible!!!

Sewera's journey began as a self-taught mechanic, emphasizing the importance of hands-on experience and self-education before formal training.
