🤔I have noticed that alot of car owners are afraid of changing their automatic transmission fluid (ATF) or Gearbox fluid. They have heard stories that once you change your ATF, your transmission may fail to engage gears and drive or your transmission won't be driving your car as it used to.
Here is the fact, changing your transmission fluid will not cause your automatic gearbox or transmission to misbehave, that can only happen when you change your ATF when it's too dirty.
The explanation to this is that once the ATF is dirty, the clutches inside the automatic gearbox wears off. This leaves small pieces of clutch material inside the gearbox. The small clutch material help in creating friction needed for the gears to engage. At this point, the gearbox will just be driving perfectly despite the dirty ATF and worn out clutches.
Changing your transmission fluid at this point will wipe out all the clutch material that were helping in engaging gears because clean transmission fluid does not contain clutch material causing your worn out clutches inside your gearbox to slip.
To avoid all this ,it is recommended you change your transmission fluid on time preferably every 35,000 to 50,000 kms and make sure your get the right AFT type for your transmission ( wrong ATF may cause damage to your transmission). You can check your car's service manual or you can check on your transmission dipstick(if it has one) for type of transmission fluid.
Take care of your car and it will take car of you✅
