If it were a competition of who makes the finest looking cars, we know for sure Audi, Ferrari, BMW and Benz would be right up there but come the 29th of June, 2025 at the King of Drag it won’t be about looks but rather about which brand and tune is better.

What do we know about the cars and competitors thus far?

Audi-R8: Built by R8 motors UK, tuned by Sheepey Race California and owned and driven by Yeshi Patel of Kopala is Zambia’s defending King of Drag Champion. Racing under RaceWolf this car is set to be labeled car number 1 at the upcoming event and that’s enough said on this beauty.

Audi-TT RS Coupe’: The TT RS is a high performance edition of the Audi TT. Sleek with high performance features that include a 5 cylinder turbocharged engine that goes from 0-100KM/H in 3.7 seconds before any stage 2 or 3 tuning. As one of the first international challengers to enter this years King of Drag BossTTRS from South Africa has been racing and beating all race cars South of the Equator. Boasting a 9.9 seconds record over a quarter mile BossTTRS has officially registered his participation in the King of Drag event on the 29th day of June, 2025 in Ngwerere, Zambia. 🇿🇦 🇿🇦

Ferrari 488 GTBB: The Italian manufactured Ferrari known for producing Supercars will be represented on the track by Tuff Motor’s very own Zaid Nadat of Lusaka. The Lusaka Adrenaline Ju**ie who previous drove a White Nissan Godzilla GTR35 has upgraded machinery to the Ferrari “Gran Turismo Berlinetta”, this 3.9 Liter Twin-Turbo V8 car is a head turner and one the crowd will be looking to see on the line come the 29th to help justify the reasons for the upgrade.

BMW M3-G80: Rumor has it on the streets that this is the not so little brother of MAF14. The one time Champion Junior has apparently changed to Mercedes’s border cousin the BMW G80 for the upcoming event. The much lighter 4 seater Sedan is a twin-turbo engine that has been nicknamed “The Audi Killer”, this car has endless potential in terms of tuning and many European tuners name it the racing car of the future. This 3 liter Twin-Turbo engine is an inline-six with a standard displacement of 503HP and we all know the upgrades Junior had on this car’s predecessor and after seeing the speeds of the Audi 8 The man, myth and legend will not take this event on the 29th lightly.

Kenya Vs Zambia

The King of Drag has sent shock waves throughout the continent and Kenya is sending some of it’s best riders to compete for the title of King of Drag. On the list so far is Acid Boy, Edu the chef and a few more notable others while Uganda is sending over Trabo to show us how it’s done. Zambia’s 2023 and 2024 King of Drag Champion Gary Hindson aka The Doc is expected to lead charge for the Zambian contingent with the likes of MHB, Salim aka Woza, Zaid Nadat, Habib Patel, Felix Chembo, Antman and many others set to make the list of riders to hold it down for Zambia. 2025 might see the return of 2022 Champion Reuben OBG Obaga make a return to the track but as at broadcast time it is still unknown which of the two countries he will represent as a he is a duo citizenship holder of both nations. Come one, come all and witness the battle of the best riders and drivers at the King of Drag 2025…. THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE BIGGGGGGGGGGG.

“JUNIOR MAFIA” RETURNS WITH THE BAVARIANS.

Dethroned King of Drag Ibrahim Jr. “Mafia” returns for the King of Drag crown in a BMW G80 M3 Competition Edition. The man, the myth and once champion who initially drove the E65s AMG for the first two events of the king of Drag series has gone a little lighter and hopefully quicker in he’s new beast from the racing side of the German giants as he returns for the 2025 crown.

After the sudden emergence of Kopala’s Yeshi Patel in an Audi R8 which took the King of Drag hosted by Lusaka Bikers Club by storm in 2024 it signalled many going back to the drawing board and Junior was no exception. The Audi R8 initially built by R8 motors UK and race tuned by Sheepey Race of California USA is a sub 9 car over a 1/4 mile which makes it quicker than many a Cheater, Jet, Bike or “Mark X” on land. In sport when one trades one side of Germany for another like Lewandoski did when he moved from Dortmund to Munich it means success and in this case word on the street is that for Jr. to trade the four seater E65s for the much lighter G80 M3 Competition Edition from the other side of Germany 🇩🇪 should also repeat the feat of success on tar. The day is set, the streets are talking and rumor has it the BMW is a sub 8 car over a quarter mile. Come out and see the action on the 29th day of June, 2025 at Ngwerere Road turnoff.

The Last Dance- Auto Guard Motor Rally Revs off on the 2nd of November, 2024.

The legendary Land Cruiser will be seen for the very last time. The car that we all got accustomed to seeing being driven by the always present and highly spirited with a huge smile Azim Ticklay affectionately known as Sekuru, who battled an illness for a long time period unfortunately went ahead of all loving rally fans a few weeks ago. The car which will be driven by Imran Ticklay, the son to the late Azim, who will be driving alongside Fred Changocho, who for many years navigated for Azim in Zambia’s most reliable rally car will this time navigate Imran to the finish line in what will be an emotionally gripping last dance of the Land Cruiser. The 1HZ has raced in Zambia from as early as 1998 racing the likes of Satwant Singh, Muna Snr., Guru Singh, Paul Monge, Ken Mwiinga and many more who raced in years gone by. it will be exciting to see this legendary car driven by another Ticklay in memory of the big man one more time in the Auto Guard Motor Rally.

The Auto Guard Motor Rally revs off on Saturday at Lusaka’s Zesco Flyover Bridge at 15:00 hours for the spectator stage and qualifier before heading to Fringila area on Sunday the 3rd day of November, 2024. The Entry list is boasting some of Zambia’s top drivers coming out for the last time in the year 2024 headlined by the likes of Mohamed Essa, Muna Jr., Geoffrey Chulu, Seth Gomes, Kleevan, Kyle, Farook Ticklay, Colin Gander, Imran and many many more.
The championship for 2024 will be concluded in Lusaka this weekend and all Rally fans and spectators are encouraged to show up in numbers and support all the teams and racers that will be taking part. Rally Gossip Group, Lusaka Motor Club and all Safety officials encourage you all to stand in safe designated areas and follow all safety guidelines to ensure a safe and incident free rally most especially at the spectator stage on Saturday and throughout the entire rally on Sunday at Fringila.
