Improving healthcare quality and outcomes

On Youth Day, the Sibanye-Stillwater Warriors rugby club, the Blue Bulls Rugby Union and Good Morning Angels visited the paediatric patients at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Together with the Lethabo La Bana Foundation, they distributed comfort packs and gowns to the children and their mothers and stationery to help doctors and nurses with hospital administration. They are also providing a year’s supply of specialised burn dressing kits to the paediatric wards of the Steve Biko Academic and Kalafong Hospitals.

A golf day hosted by the rugby club in Mooinooi earlier this month raised R200,000 to support efforts to construct a wound care room and playroom at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

Dr Lola Shuma and Professor Mariza de Villiers, the foundation’s founders, thanked everyone, reiterating that it could not be done without everyone’s help.

Led by International Women in Mining (IWiM), this global movement celebrates the resilience, talent and leadership of women shaping a more inclusive future for mining.

At Sibanye-Stillwater, we are proud to celebrate the women across our operations – from frontline teams to the C-suite – who continue to break new ground and redefine what’s possible.

Sibanye-Stillwater, in partnership with BBRU-Official and Jacaranda 94.2 Good Morning Angels, have pledged R100,000 to the Lethabo La Bana Foundation, which supports children who receive care at the paediatric wards of the Steve Biko Academic and Kalafong Hospitals.

The Lethabo La Bana Foundation, which aims to fill funding gaps at these two hospitals, will use the funds to provide care packs and burn wound dressings.

In addition, the Sibanye-Stillwater Warriors rugby club will be hosting a charity golf day in Mooinooi on Friday, 12 June 2026, to raise further funds for the Foundation. Any additional funds will contribute to the construction of a specialised wound care room and playroom at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
