Ever Wondered Why Diesel Engines Last Longer Than Petrol Engines?
Diesel engines last longer than petrol engines as Diesel is a light oil and when it is burned and used as fuel, it lubricates the parts of the engine which prolongs the lifespan of the engine. Petrol is like a detergent and washes away oil from components of the engine which decreases the engines lifespan. On average a petrol engine has a typical lifespan of 300 000km whereas a diesel engine exceeds a lifespan of 500 000km to 1 million km and higher.
