A letter from our stephmom.

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you with a heavy heart to share the news about my beloved son and brother, Johan Welgemoed.

He has been diagnosed with CADASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy), a rare genetic disorder that has severely impacted his health.

Since October 2024, my brother has suffered several strokes, which have left him unable to speak, walk, or perform daily activities. He is now confined to his bed and requires constant medical care. Unfortunately, his medical aid only covers a portion of the expenses, and the cost of his treatment and care is overwhelming for our family.

We are reaching out to you for any contribution, no matter how small, to help us provide the necessary medical care and support for my brother. Your generosity will make a significant difference in his quality of life and ensure he receives the care he needs in a specialized institution.

Hi almal, die facebook blad is public geshare, anders sal ek net die teks en fotos aanstuur, as julle asb op julle bladdens ook kan share. Ons het rerig hulp nodig asb, as julle dalk by julle kerke ook kan vra, huidiglik het ons doeke nodig dit kos R400 vir n pak en hou net 3 dae, daar moet n rolstoel gekoop word wat R35 000 kos en n matras om te help keer vir bed sere R600. Ons is besig met n Back-a-Buddy page en te kyk na ander geld insameling, op die stadium weet ons nie waar om te vra nie, en die medies dek net die hospitaal en van die medisyne.

Enid was die naweek laas by Johan, omdat daar ook nie fondse is vir heen en weer ry of oorslaap nie, hulle voer hom nie altyd nie en kyk nie so mooi na hom soos mens wil he nie, so dis nie n goeie tyd hierdie kant nie en dit voel soos n berg voor mens, nie een van ons is gewoond daaraan om vir hulp te vra nie, so enige iemand wat kan help sal rerig baie waardeer word.
