One journey can change everything. Awareness can change how prepared you are for it.

We have decided to share some statistics about crime. Knowing what happens out there (on the roads), helps when ensuring the safety of your family & friends.

Based on the SAPS First Quarter Crime Statistics for 2026/27, South Africa registered 4,638 incidents of kidnapping from April to June 2026: 51 daily on average.

With 2,367 taking place in Gauteng (accounting for over 51% of national cases). Ransom kidnapping was also 3.9% higher than the same quarter of the previous year.

More telling are the numbers concerning ransom kidnapping. 231 cases of ransom kidnapping took place in SA, including 140 cases registered in Gauteng.

Vehicles may also be involved in the process of kidnapping. During the January-March 2026 crime statistics in Gauteng, 1,307 kidnapping cases were related to hijacking and attempted hijacking.
