Maintenance Tips Monday ๐ง
๐ 1. Check Your Tyre Pressure Monthly
Under-inflated tyres wear unevenly, reduce fuel efficiency, and can be dangerous โ especially on SA roads. Check your tyre pressure at least once a month and always before a long trip. Don't forget the spare!
๐ข๏ธ 2. Change Your Oil Regularly
Engine oil is your car's lifeblood. Check it every few weeks and follow your manufacturer's recommended oil change interval (usually every 10,000โ15,000 km). Old, dirty oil causes serious engine wear over time.
๐ง 3. Top Up All Fluid Levels
Beyond engine oil, regularly check your coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windscreen washer fluid. Low coolant in particular can lead to overheating โ a costly repair that's easily avoided.
๐ชซ 4. Keep an Eye on Your Battery
Car batteries typically last 3โ5 years. Watch out for slow engine starts or dim lights โ these are early warning signs. Clean any corrosion off the terminals and have your battery tested annually, especially heading into winter.
โ ๏ธ 5. Don't Ignore Your Brakes
If you hear squealing, grinding, or your car pulls to one side when braking, get it checked immediately. Brake pads should be inspected regularly and replaced before they wear down to the metal โ your safety depends on it!
