2025 had its challenges....quite a few ....but through all we still delivered a nicely restored VW thing to our client K...

2025 had its challenges....quite a few ....but through all we still delivered a nicely restored VW thing to our client Kevin O'sullivan.
They are such amazing vehicles and the first of a couple we are restoring...Vintage kombi restorations also manufactured the complete roof and windows for the vw Thing ourselves
And can offer this service to customers from 2026 onward. Enjoy the pics...

Roadtrip Deluxe :
Cape to Caprivi in Winnie the 1959 splittie .....so our client Charles is no stranger to long hauls in his '59 split, that we restored a few years back, Winnie was rescued from a farm outside Kimberley and used as salt lick storage when we found her...hence the rusted out lower section....( you can see her restoration post in our post lineup) 👇🏻
So after having done about 15000 miles in Winnie since being restored, Charles decides its time to visit the Caprivi strip on the Namibia/ Angola border for a fun road trip 👊🏻👌🏻😁... So one rainy morning in early May 2025 Charles departs Cape Town headed to The Caprivi strip, northern Namibia...its a long haul but steady at around 60mph....near springbok,Northern Cape the clock resets to 00000...Winnie is reborn 😁👌🏻 the attention the bus attracts from locals both youg and old even the police officers at roadblocks is fantastic 😀 showing what awesome vehicles they are...and loved by most irrespective....
Charles stays over at a few campsites and rates Namibia very high for quality Camping
By chance He bumps into Sean and his family also from CT on Their own Namibian adventure in his bay window bus...wow such coincidence, at an off the beat camp site in Namibia 😎😎 they spoke kombi all day !😁
Charles ends up doing around 290km on gravel roads, stays over in Windhoek, otjivarongo, Rundu amongst other places...the bus makes it safely back to CapeTown after meeting many strangers along his trip, all in awe of Winnie the bus a true legend!

This 1965 11 window is by far one of the most rusted out buses we've had in over 12 years.....no problem for Vintage kombi team.....sub structure measured to factory spec and repaired ....now that's passion !

Been busy on these twins....😁😎 2 x bullet crew cabs....in final assembly just about ready to leave to their owner....awe...

A little update on the vw thing project....its nearing completion soon and it's looking fantastic 👌🏻 here are a few pics taken along the way, we have repaired the roof frame to original as well as manufactured a brand new roof cover including our own designed fastening system, and manufactured brand new windows for it ! Stay tuned for the end result 👊🏻👌🏻
