And that’s a wrap! 🏁🏁

Our Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive has officially come to an end, and what an incredible event it was!
We were privileged to have so many participants join us in support of this worthy cause, despite the unpredictable weather and the long weekend. Your enthusiasm, commitment and passion for classic cars and men’s health made this event truly special.

Together, we raised US$1,689 — approximately R29,000 🇿🇦 for a worthy cause! Every contribution makes a difference, and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.

To our sponsors — THANK YOU! ❤️

We could not have made this spectacular event possible without your generosity and support. Whether you contributed financially, donated goods or services, or helped in any other way, please know that your contribution means more to us than words can express.

Your support helped turn an idea into an unforgettable event and enabled us to make a meaningful difference in our community.
To every participant, sponsor, supporter and volunteer who stood with us: thank you for being part of the journey.

Our generous prize sponsors: Autosport, Adendendorf Machinery Mart Port Elizabeth, SA Mechanical Seals Port Elizabeth, Motul, Spanjaard, Chemsolved, Europcar - and MASSIVE THANK YOU for your invaluable contribution 🏆

The weather may have challenged us, but it certainly didn't stop us!
Until the next drive — keep the spirit alive, keep the wheels turning, and keep driving for a cause! 🏎️🤵

1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Wagon

Chevrolet began the 1949 model year building station wagons the old way, with wood-framed bodies from outside supplier Ionia. Partway through the year, it switched to an all-steel body from GM’s Fisher division.

The woody look stayed, though: DI-NOC vinyl transfers supplied the woodgrain, and the window frames inside were still real wood.

By 1951, that steel wagon was an established part of the Styleline Deluxe range, with room for eight passengers. Ford took longer to make the move, keeping real wood panels on its Country Squire through 1951.

From the factory, the wagon used Chevrolet’s 216 CI six with a three-speed manual. Buyers who ordered the Powerglide automatic, new for 1950, got a larger 235 CI six.

This wagon has been updated well beyond factory form. It runs a later Chevrolet 250 CI six with a Powerglide, a Mustang II–type independent front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, and air conditioning.

Its woodgrain is painted rather than applied as transfers.

The steel wagon cost less to build and needed none of the sanding and varnishing a true woody demanded. By 1952, Ford had followed, and the wood-bodied wagon was nearly gone from American showrooms.
