🛢️ OIL IS THE LIFEBLOOD OF YOUR ENGINE! 🏍️

You wouldn't run a marathon without water, so don't make your bike ride without fresh oil! Regular oil changes are the single most important maintenance task you can do to ensure your engine lasts for years to come.

👇 The Golden Rules:
Frequency: Change your oil and filter at least once a season, or every 10 - 20 hours. (Newer bikes with synthetic oil can often stretch longer, but check your manual!).
The Filter: Never change the oil without changing the filter. A clogged filter can't trap the nasty particles that destroy your engine.
The Juice: Always use the correct oil viscosity recommended for your specific bike. It handles heat better and protects vital components.

When it comes to extreme control and balance, the TrialGP series is where the best of the best reside. For a number of seasons, the top five riders have remained a consistent "Fab Five": Toni Bou, Adam Raga, Jeroni Fajardo, Albert Cabestany, and Takahisa Fujinami.

But there is one rider who stands alone at the top. 👑

Toni Bou – The Unstoppable Force The Spanish superstar is widely considered the most successful trials rider of all time. From 2007 to 2016, he won 10 consecutive World Championships! Along with his indoor X-Trial titles, he has amassed a staggering 21 total championships.

🚲 Did You Know? Before he was a legend on a motorcycle, Toni was a prodigy on two wheels! He spent his early days competing in international Biketrial (bicycle trials) competitions. It wasn't until the age of 14 that he dedicated himself 100% to motorcycle trials, bringing that incredible pedal-power balance with him!

His debut was in 2003 with Beta, but after switching to Montesa-HRC in 2007, his dominance truly began.

🔋 KEEP THE POWER FLOWING: DON'T LET A DEAD BATTERY RUIN YOUR RIDE!

We’ve all been there: You gear up, turn the key, and... click, click, click. Nothing kills the excitement faster than a dead motorcycle battery. 😫

Modern bikes use sensitive electronics that can drain a battery even when the engine is off.

If you aren't riding daily, here are two simple tips to keep your battery healthy and ready to go:
1. Use a Trickle Charger (Battery Tender) 📶 This is the golden rule of battery maintenance. If your bike sits in the garage for more than a few days, hook it up to a maintainer. It keeps the battery at 100% charge without overcharging it, preventing permanent damage and extending its lifespan.
2. Keep Terminals Clean 🧼 Pop the seat occasionally and check your battery connections. If you see white, blue, or green powdery buildup (corrosion), clean it off! Corrosion increases resistance and prevents power from flowing to your starter motor. A quick scrub with a wire brush and some baking soda/water works wonders!

👉 Pro Tip: A dead battery is one of the most common roadside issues we see. Don't wait until you're stuck!

It might be hard to believe that one of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturers started by building... musical instruments! 🎶

🎹 The Origins In 1955, Genichi Kawakami, the president of musical instrument maker Nippon Gakki, decided to transition war-time aircraft machinery into something new. The result was the YA-1, a 125cc two-stroke motorcycle.
Known for its reliability and gorgeous red body, it was nicknamed the "Red Dragonfly." It was an instant success, even winning the grueling 3rd Mt. Fuji Ascent Race!

🚲 Creating the Dual-Sport Class Yamaha didn't just build bikes; they created entire categories. In 1968, they introduced the DT-1 250cc. This bike effectively invented the "Dual-Sport" (on/off-road) class, creating a massive market in the USA for riders who wanted the best of both worlds.

🏆 The Philosophy Kawakami’s guiding principle was simple: "If you're going to do something, be the best." This drive for excellence led to the RD350 "pocket rocket," the heavy-duty XT series, and the groundbreaking YZF-R1 in 1998, which completely revolutionized the superbike market.

🎙️ FUN FACT FRIDAY: CHASING DREAMS AT FULL THROTTLE! 🏁🇿🇦

We all know the Binders are flying the flag globally, but South Africa’s representation on two wheels is about to get even bigger!

Let’s shine the spotlight on Oratilwe "Ora" Phiri. This 2026 season, the SA teenager is racing in the prestigious TVS Racing International Championship (alongside the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship) aboard a TVS Apache RR 310, and he is making massive waves!

📜 The Resume: A Champion in the Making Ora isn't just on the international stage because of luck—he has the stats to back it up. With 6 National Championships already under his belt, he has been winning since he was a tiny tot:
2016-2017: MotoSA Pocket Bike Champion (Started at age 5!).
2019: SBMSCS Pocket Bike Champion.
2020: NSF100 Champion.
2024: MRSSA Sub500 National Champion.
2025: MRSSA/SAES SBK600 National Champion.

🏆 The 2026 Breakthrough: After stepping up to the senior ranks, Ora took on Asia's best. At Round 2 in Thailand, he made history by securing a brilliant 3rd place podium finish in Race 1, becoming the first South African to ever stand on the TVS podium!

He showed true grit in Race 2. After crashing on the final lap following a late-race battle, Ora remounted and fought back to finish 11th, securing 3rd overall in the championship.

“Race 1 was one of the hottest and most competitive races I’ve been in... I grabbed my brakes to avoid a collision and crashed, took out another rider, got back up, and finished 11th. That just shows you can’t count this kid out!”

🔧 The Dream Team: Ora isn't doing it alone. He has the guidance of SA racer Steven Odendaal as his coach and full support from TVS South Africa and Lumi Racing.
