Community Values

We believe people can do more together than alone and that each of us plays an important role in helping to create a safe and respectful community. So, we’ve laid out a set of principles for us to follow on this Page:

Let’s celebrate the things that bring us together.

Let’s choose to treat each other like neighbors rather than strangers.

Let’s respect individuality and welcome diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Let’s assume people mean well.

Our moderators are here for the community to uphold these values every day.

"The Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) recently released its second annual Entry-Level Car Safety Report‚ and with it the bombshell news that of the 25 cars selling for R160‚000 or less‚ only two are considered to have acceptable safety: the Toyota Aygo 1.0 and the Nissan Micra 1.2 Visia+."

Zero. That’s the safety rating the Chinese-made Chery QQ3 scored in the first-ever independent crash test assessment of some of the most popular compact and small cars in South Africa.

I started writing this post to point out some design similarities between the much anticipated Mazda CX-8 and the new Jaguar E-Pace. Reading through different articles, draw my attention to something else, these are two well established manufacturers moving with the times, but in very different directions. So there is a trend where people want more, want bigger, with the same quality and power of the smaller version

Here you have Jaguar, producing another compact suv, with a theme based on their ever beautiful F-type series. Those familiar with the F-type series will be able to recognise F-type features all over the E-Pace, inside and out, from dashboard to taillights.

Mazda however, heard the call for bigger, and thought, why? Why do customers want a bigger car? Is it a safety issue? Is it a comfort issue?
So they looked at their bigger sized models, and asked themselves, how can we improve on the request for bigger and what do we do with the extra space?

In the end, Mazda created the CX-8, the same qualities and features of the smaller models but with the extra space better utilized. A third row of seats was the solution.

So the big question is... Which manufacturer satisfied the need for bigger, best? The one who gave you the same, but just in a slightly different shape, or the one who took your challenge and gave you more?

(The Mazda CX-8 is scheduled to go to market in Japan mid 2018, international roll out still have to be confirmed)

So everyone has been ranting and raving about the new Mazda CX-5 (especially the red one), and even though we are all spotting something new and interesting everytime we look at it... Mazda is not done yet... as 2018 will see a diesel version of the CX-5.

The 2.2-litre, four-cylinder Skyactiv-D turbodiesel engine pumps out 150 horsepower and, more importantly, 280 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,800 rpm. It has plenty of pop off the line and a strong mid-range. It is also suitably muted. Yes, it sounds diesel-like at idle, but once driving it is quiet and smooth — it is such most will not pick up on the fact it consumes diesel and not gasoline.
