Dr. RK Modise is an exemplary candidate whose impressive journey embodies exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to community development, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Modiseโs educational background is remarkable, starting from Modiketse Primary School and Tshepo Christian School, and culminating in advanced degrees: a National Diploma in Production Management from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a BTech in Operations Management from the University of South Africa, a Masters in Industrial Engineering: Technology Management, and a Doctorate in Industrial Engineering from Tshwane University of Technology. This extensive academic foundation underscores her dedication to excellence and continuous learning.
Her professional career spans various roles demonstrating her versatility and impact. Dr. Modise worked as a Business Advisor at Seda from 2006 to 2010 before venturing into entrepreneurship with a design and printing company, a live chicken business, and a hair salon. She then joined the Technology Innovation Agency, eventually managing a substantial budget of 110 million as a Technology Cluster Manager.
After resigning in 2015, she became the Technology Station Manager at the University of Johannesburg,where she provided support to technopreneurs, who turned their research into commercialisation and later founded her own energy management company. Her diverse experience includes returning to Seda as Manager of Incubation, where she further contributed to business development and support.
Dr. Modise's entrepreneurial drive led her to establish an automotive aftermarket company while simultaneously earning her Masters and PhD. Her business not only survived the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic but also thrived, employing over 20 people, 80% of whom are youth.
