APPLICATION SUBJECT IN EMAIL: Application for PETROL ATTENDANT – WH_KRN
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide petrol and oil to customers in a courteous and efficient manner, ensuring that all goods supplied are correctly accounted for in terms of cash or vouchers received.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Matric and the ability to accurately calculate and compute money and/or vouchers in exchange for petrol, oil and other Company goods sold on the driveway.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Petrol Pump Attendants to be clean, neat and tidy of appearance and dress in uniforms provided, when on duty.
2. Attend to customers promptly and courteously when entering, and on the driveway.
3. Enquire from customers what his/her requirements are, confirm that request is understood and carried out promptly and courteously: -
3.1 When providing the customer with the service required, offer and then promptly carry out the 3 point check - that is checking and cleaning the windscreen, checking and pumping tyres, carrying out under bonnet check of fluid level and advising customer of issues requiring attention.
3.2 Avoid spillage and clean thoroughly when it occurs.
3.3 Ensure that caps, covers and dipstick are correctly secured or replaced.
3.4 Report to customer any noticeable discrepancies/variances in fluid level and/or any obvious reasons for such discrepancies/variances.
3.5 Ensure that driveway area is kept free of obstructive traffic.
3.6 Ensure that driveway surrounds, and equipment are maintained in a clean, neat and functional state at all times, on all shifts.
3.7 Defective equipment on driveway to be reported to Supervisor
4 Ensure that accurate dip and pump readings are taken and recorded at the beginning and end of each shift.
5. Method of payment for goods/services provided: - in all instances the client must, prior to being served, be asked what method of payment is to be applied, i.e. cash or card. No cheques to be accepted, unless by prior arrangement, in writing, from the
Manager: -
5.1 Cards: - as part of the job it is the Petrol Pump Attendant's duty to ensure that all the cards used, are valid and legal before service is given.
5.1.1 Ensure that the vehicle registration number corresponds with the requirements of the card.
5.1.2 Ensure that the signature on the card corresponds with the signature on the voucher.
5.1.3 Ensure that the signature on the cards corresponds with amount paid for on the voucher and that all details are correct and accounted for.
5.1.4 Ensure that the details of the card are valid and checked against the card printout provided.
5.1.5 Any deviations/variances/doubts as to the use of cards for the purchase of fuels and oils must immediately be conveyed to the customer (purchaser) and the services must be refused.
5.2 Cash: - as part of the job, it is the Petrol Pump Attendant's duty to ensure that all cash transactions involved in the sale of fuel and oil are correctly accounted for.
5.2.1 Ensure that the amount in respect of the goods to be provided/supplied, is correctly understood, for example - R 10,00 ; R 20,00 ; fill up etc.
5.2.2 Ensure that the amount of fuel supplied, as per the pump reading, is correct and that the correspondingly correct amount of cash is obtained.
5.2.3 Ensure that the change provided is correct.
5.2.4 Ensure that the cash amount received in respect of other sales (oil etc.) is correct.
5.2.5 Ensure that the cash float amount received at the commencement of the shift is correct.
5.2.6 Ensure that when cash intake received for sales exceeds the float amount, the excess amount is correctly entered on voucher, that cash and corresponding vouchers are posted in the night safe.
6. Shift work: -Ensure that during the late afternoon and night shifts, although not that busy, a state of alertness and awareness is maintained of what is happening on the driveway, and to report any untoward events, which may possibly endanger the Petrol Pump Attendant or Company property, to the night watch, or the police for further action.
7. Ensure that no friends, relatives or strangers are on the driveway, other than for business purposes.
8. Cash and voucher transactions for goods sold i.e. petrol, oil etc. to correspond exactly with sales. Shortages will be the responsibility of the Petrol Pump Attendants on duty on the driveway.
9. Ad hoc duties as and when required.
