Hull 4 out and about.

Release on Hull4 - full epoxy build. This 24.4 ft hull will weigh around 900kg

Hull 4 deck layout. The requirement for this boat is that it can be easily surf launched with a cruiser. So we doing an epoxy infusion to keep the weight down and the strength up. Epoxy is a lot tougher than polyester resin(less brittle). We are also doing a 270 liter insulated fish box.

Hull 3 coming out of the mold. The release was a little sticky so we put some water into the mold and that pops the boat out. Because it’s epoxy we don’t use gelcoat as there is a slight compatibility issue. With paint we will get a spectacular finish and we also get to see any imperfections through the clear epoxy resin. The green is 80kg density PVC foam core and the blue is 130kg density- combined with epoxy and directional fibreglass this allows for an extremely light and strong boat. Light on fuel, easy to tow and agile for operating in the surf. At this stage it’s looking like the boat will be light enough to run with
2 x 100hp.

This is our first epoxy boat. Here you can see the PVC foam core of the hull(still in the mold)We now infuse the bulkheads and stringers directly into the boat. This gives an extremely light,robust and stiff structure . This sub deck structure is a good place to look if you want to see how well your boat is built.

We often get asked about draft, but we consider the ability to get on the plane quickly with minimal bow rise to be more important. This enables access to very shallow areas.

Our rub-rail LED lights get a lot of attention, but what you don’t see is the important part. If you own a boat that operates offshore or in heavy chop, the rub-rail more than likely leaks and comes loose from time to time. This is because of the shoe box style, hull to deck joint used by almost all boat builders, it is easy to do and is very forgiving. But it often leaves the boat owner with a leaking boat, rub-rail that keeps working itself loose and some some nasty screws in your boat. That’s why we designed the Vantage with an out turned fl**ge joint . These joints are far superior to any other joint, but they require precision and are much harder to make. So much so that rub-rail systems are not freely available for these types of joints. That’s why we designed our own rub-rail system, which allows for a bolted, out turned fl**ge, hull to deck joint . While we were at it, we added a dedicated slot to secure an LED strip.

This will be our first Vantage SX-240 . The SX will have the same vacuum infused construction and deck layout as the BX-240, but won’t have a hardtop, integrated anchor system, full flush head or sea chest. The SX-240 will retail for around R1.6m with motors.
