Rust is a serious issue and can be a big problem down the road if it’s not dealt with from the beginning. Following the 3 steps to deal with a rust repair properly.

Three Steps:

* Step one: Strip the metal to bare. Soda blast, paint stripper, bead blast, etc. However you do it, make sure it’s done in a moisture-free environment.
* Step two: Don’t touch the surface with bare hands. Clean and prepare for step three.
* Step three: Find a compatible primer system, DTM, high-build primer, sealer and apply to repaired area.

What makes a smart repair?

The repair needs to be no more than 10cm from a natural breakline – bonnets, roofs and boots should be avoided as these areas have sun impact on the clearcoat edge. If there are any dents on the vehicle these should also be no more than 25mm across. If the repair meets all of this criteria then you are A for away.
