A SPECIAL SALUTE TO THE 5,000 WOMEN OF COMRADES 2026 🏃♀️
While more than 21,600 runners will take on the challenge of the 99th Comrades Marathon, we at SADES would like to pause and celebrate the incredible 5,000 women who will stand on that start line!
To every lady running this year's race:
You are more than participants.
You are pioneers.
You are role models.
You are proof that determination, discipline, and courage know no limits.
A century ago, women fought for the opportunity to be recognised in sport. This weekend, thousands of women will conquer one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world, inspiring daughters, sisters, mothers, colleagues, and communities across South Africa.
May the weather be kind.
May your shoes be comfortable.
May the potholes miss you completely.
May your training carry you through every climb.
And may you remember that every step you take is part of a legacy built by generations of extraordinary women before you!
