Short answer: No! You shouldn’t regularly use 93 unleaded in an engine that requires 95.

Here’s why:

Your engine is designed to run on 95 octane, which means it needs fuel that can handle higher compression without knocking.
Using 93 octane can lead to:

⚠️ Engine knocking (pinging)
⚠️ Reduced performance and power
⚠️ Higher fuel consumption (the ECU compensates)
⚠️ Potential long-term engine damage if used consistently

Modern vehicles may adjust timing to protect the engine, but that usually means less power and worse efficiency — so you’re not actually saving money.
When is it okay?

In an emergency, you can use 93 temporarily! Please drive gently and avoid heavy acceleration. But switch back to 95 as soon as possible.
