* Know your rights of choice.
* Know the price before the tow on a signed tow authorisation slip
* Know how to protect yourself against dodgy tow truckers
* Keep your insurance underwriters 24hr emergency assist number on hand
* Make sure you make the call to your insurance company
* Take pics of the tow truck driver as well as the tow truck delivering the service to you.
* Make sure you are made aware of Tow cost, Storage cost and Recovery cost
* Read the tow truck authorisation slip from front to back (thoroughly) and look out for small fine print

No law enforcement official can force you to use a specific tow truck. You choose, or let your insurance send an approved tow truck to help you.
