MARX READY FOR CLOSE AND TIGHT ACTION AS MOBIL 1 V8 SUPERCARS HEAD TO PORT ELIZABETH
Antonie Marx will be making his maiden coastal appearance in Round 5 of the 2019 Mobil 1 V8 Supercars.
The September 20-21 race weekend will see the series making their first visit to the Aldo Scribante Racetrack since the 2012 season and Marx is looking forward to the experience.
“We know they love their V8 racing down in the Eastern Cape so the support should definitely be great there. Quite a few of us have never competed at the circuit so this will be a new experience for us” says Marx.
Following Round 4, the Tinco Garage Motorsport team have been working hard to get the XADO Jaguar ready for the upcoming round. “It’s been a tough battle thus far, but also a very rewarding one. We already know that success in this championship does not come easy, but we’ve taken a lot from our Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit weekend to build on; notably our superb start in Race 1.”
The Aldo Scribante Racetrack might however level the playing entirely. “This circuit is really unlike any other venue that we are racing at. Although the Aldo Scribante Racetrack is slightly longer than Zwartkops Raceway, you have less straights to work with. The races will be won or lost in the corners. You have slow hairpins, faster sweeps and chicane to contend with. Overtaking may be difficult, but not impossible. The key will be to make a good start and emerge in a good position following the first two corners. From there you may be able to control the pace and racing line.”
Friday will see three practice sessions ahead of Saturday morning’s Qualifying session at 09:30. The two races will both be contested over 12 laps and are scheduled to start at 12:30 and 16:30. There will also be a fan walk at the Hanger section of the circuit at 11:55.
Fans of Marx are also invited to follow his page www.facebook.com/AntonieMarxRacing for results and updates
Marx would like to thank Xado Smart Nanotechnology, TiNCo Motorsport, Strado Truck & Trailer Remanufacturers, Union Propshafts, SAX Shocks, Deysels Autobody, FS Car Breakers, B&J Supplies and Mag Repairs for making his 2019 season possible.
