A 4x4 weekend in the amazing Tankwa Karoo! 🏜️🚙

Our team leader, Johann Tyre Viljoen, spent the weekend doing something he loves, getting out into the Tankwa Karoo and sharing his knowledge of the area. As a SANParks Honorary Ranger, Johann led a guided 4x4 trip organised by the Boland Honorary Rangers for the ORA ZA 4x4 Club.

From their base camp, a convoy of around 30 vehicles covered nearly 200 km through Tankwa Karoo National Park, with highlights including Oudebaaskraal Dam, the Leeuberg 4x4 trail and wildlife sightings along the way. One of the biggest highlights was the spectacular Elandsberg viewpoint, with breathtaking views stretching across the Tankwa Karoo.

Well done to the Boland Honorary Rangers team for a memorable weekend combining 4x4 adventure with conservation awareness and education. 👊

What a privilege to be involved in an initiative like this! 🌿

The SANParks Honorary Rangers once again hosted a camp for primary school learners in the Tankwa Karoo National Park, giving the children an opportunity to experience nature, learn about wildlife and understand the importance of conservation.

Our team leader, Johann Tyre Viljoen, is a SANParks Honorary Ranger, making this initiative especially close to 1st Outdoor & 4x4 and 1st Alignment Centre.

A big thank you to the Honorary Rangers for the hard work and dedication that goes into organising these camps and to everyone who contributed through sponsorships and support.

A night in the Atlantis dunes! Not something you get to experience every day.

Overnight camping in the dunes is prohibited, but special permission was obtained from the relevant authorities for the Friday evening ahead of the annual Atlantis 4x4 Fun Day, with strict rules that had to be followed.

Our 1st Outdoor & 4x4 and 1st Alignment Centre teams made the most of this rare opportunity, spending the evening with a small group of fellow 4x4 enthusiasts before Saturday’s action.

Our team leader, Johann Tyre Viljoen, is also a member of the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa (Western Cape) which organises this annual event.

What a way to kick off a great weekend in the dunes! 👊

Maxxis Tires Ironman 4x4 Africa Opposite Lock Africa

We definitely got some good 4x4 action at our obstacle! 😎👊

That steep climb up the dune gave the drivers a good challenge at the Atlantis 4x4 Fun Day, especially with the windy conditions on the day.

We captured so much footage of the different vehicles having a go, so here’s a look at how some of them did. And there’s a lot more to come!

A big thank you to the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa (Western Cape) for putting together such a great day. 👏

Johann Tyre Viljoen Tough Dog Suspension

1st Outdoor & 4x4 in the Kgalagadi. 😎🏜️

Our team leader, Johann Tyre Viljoen, spent the weekend in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, putting his Toyota Hilux Travo through some Kalahari dune terrain along the Nossob 4×4 Eco Trail, while also spending time working at Loffiesdraai as a SANParks Honorary Ranger.

His Hilux is well set up for the terrain, with the new Gobi-X front bumper, Ironman 4x4 Scope NEO 7” driving lights, a Gobi-X rear bumper and Maxxis RAZR AT-811 all-terrain tyres.

This is why experience matters at 1st Outdoor & 4x4. We don’t only sell 4x4 and overlanding gear. We use it, travel with it and spend time in 4x4 terrain ourselves.
