Is your R1200GSA feeling a little sluggish or idling roughly? 🏍️💨 We’ve seen a few of these liquid-cooled beauties coming into the workshop lately with faulty throttle bodies.
Check out the process of swapping one out to get that crisp throttle response back. Proper diagnostics make all the difference. 🛠️

Oh how I’ve missed these 😂

Did you know the BMW F850GS uses a dry sump system? 🧠 This isn’t just a tech flex—it’s built for serious off-road abuse.

In a standard wet sump engine, gravity does the work to pool the oil at the bottom. But on steep technical climbs or deep descents, that oil sloshes around. If the oil pickup runs dry for even a few seconds under load... goodbye bearings.💥

BMW solved this by running a dual-pump system:
⚙️ Pump 1 (Scavenge): Instantly sucks oil out of the bottom of the crankcase.
⚙️ Pump 2 (Pressure): Feeds it reliably from the reservoir back to the vital engine components.
It keeps the oil where it belongs, even if you’re vertical.

Changing out the gear position sensor on the BMW HP2 Enduro. 🛠️

Anyone who owns an R-series or an HP2 knows this sensor loves to act up eventually, but replacing it is a tight squeeze right behind the gearbox and swingarm. Got the new one popped in, everything torqued to spec, and the dash display is back to reading perfectly.

How did Husqvarna turn a sensible BMW F800 into a fire-breathing street hooligan? 🇩🇪➡️🇮🇹

Here is how they rebuilt the engine to create the Nuda 900R:

• Bigger Heart: They bored and stroked the 798cc BMW twin out to a beefy 898cc.

• More Punch: Power jumped from 85hp to 105hp, with a massive increase in torque.

• The “Secret Sauce”: They swapped the BMW’s 360° crank for a 270° offset crank. This changed the bike from a smooth commuter to a raspy, aggressive beast that sounds like a V-Twin.

• High Compression: Bumped to 13.0:1 with bigger valves and aggressive cams for instant throttle response.
The result? German reliability with a heavy dose of Italian attitude. 🧨

Balance is everything. ⚖️

Synchronizing the throttle bodies on the GS to keep that 1200cc Boxer humming smooth. Say goodbye to the vibrations and hello to the open road.

Just back from a road test after rebuilding an R1250GS and she's running smoothly. Replacing the Telelever was a real pain, but worth it after a late night and some choice words. Always glad to keep a bike on the road rather than scrapping it. Even threw on some Lone Rider lights that the customer had lying around, and they look pretty sharp! On to the next project 😅

Don’t ignore the ticking! Yes these boxers are loud but if it’s a consistent loud ticking sound on one side get it checked! Better to be safe than sorry 🤷‍♂️

The S1000XR uses the exact same 999cc engine block as the S1000RR Superbike, but with a secret weapon for the real world.

While the RR is built for peak track speeds, BMW specifically re-tuned the XR’s engine to have a higher torque output in the mid-range than its track-focused sibling. In fact, in 4th, 5th, and 6th gears, the XR actually has shorter ratios than the RR, meaning that in a “real world” roll-on race from 40mph to 80mph, the upright touring bike can actually pull away from the superbike.
