With heavy rain possible in the forecast, the Yuma County Department of Public Works will offer a free self-serve sandbag station to the public to help divert water from homes and structures.

Sandbags will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Yuma County Public Works facility, located at 4343 S. Avenue 5-1/2E. Each vehicle may take home a maximum of six sandbags. Visitors should be prepared to shovel the sand and load the bags into their vehicle and may wish to bring their own shovel, gloves and closed-toe shoes.

Rain associated with a tropical weather system in the Pacific Ocean is forecast to arrive in Yuma between Saturday, Oct. 10 through Monday, Oct. 12. Weather updates are available on the National Weather Service website.
