Hello everyone. thought i would show a little bit of what i have going on in my world. The guys and i have been thinking about what we were wanting to build for a shop car. so we came across 2 x 1958 Renault 4cv (also known in Japan as the Renault Hino after WW2). Both are pretty rusty, but luckily the rust is all in the floor boards, not in the body panels themselves. So a quick outline.
Rotisserie the 4cv, cut away all structure except body, build a tube chassis in a box frame style comparable to the Caterham super 7. Suspension has been sources from 2 separate cars, currently deciding between a first gen mr2 (McPherson system) or an rx8 (double wishbone). Custom control arms will be used, but spindles and brakes from donor car. Rear mounting the j series and 6 speed transverse in the rear over the axle like an mr2.
The engine is currently being built, j35a from a 2001 ody ( i know this is a small valve engine *sad face*). Motor is being assembled now. j32a2 heads and mdx injectors.
Since space above both valve covers is not an issue, i will be doing a twin turbo setup, sourcing turbos from an rb26dett - t28's, and 300zx intercoolers mounted like an f40, or a callaway c4 corvette. pulling fresh air off the roof and side scoops to the intercoolers. also plan on running 7 inch electric fans on the intercoolers to kick on when air temp exceeds a certain temp. Rear mounting the radiator at a 45 under the rear bonnet. pulling cold air from beneath the car and pushing it through the radiator and out through the rear trunk vents.
i will keep everyone posted on the progress. All my bays full, so movement will be slow :(. the Guys and i call it Napoleon.
Tell me what you think!
Big shout out to P2R Power Rev Racing for working out the small details with me and tricking me out with quality parts for the j series.
