Blake was recently called out to replace the rear pads and rotors and a seized caliper on a client’s Ford F-250 work truck. Usually being a one-man show means working solo… but not on this job!

The client’s lab made sure Blake took an appropriate number of snuggle breaks (it’s company policy, what can we say 🤷‍♀️), while the sheep stood at the fence and kept him company by singing him the songs of their people (they were a VERY vocal bunch!) the whole time he worked. We’d call that a pretty wool-rounded service call.. ba-dum, tsss 🥁😂

One of the coolest parts about being a mobile mechanic is getting to work in your world. We love getting to meet your dogs, your cats, your farm animals, and whatever other four-legged supervisors happen to be wandering around while we work! You definitely don’t get coworkers like these when you’re wrenching inside a shop all day 🐑🐾🔧

Apparently, mechanics aren’t immune to car problems either. 😂🔧

Yesterday, our trusty work truck decided to keep us humble when the brakes went out while we were driving down the highway. 😅 Thankfully, we got it home safely, and today Blake gets to experience the rare privilege of being his own client.

After he tore into it, we found that the passenger front caliper pins were completely seized, and the passenger rear caliper had actually launched a brake pad out, destroying the caliper in the process. And judging by the pictures… she was definitely ready for some attention. 🥴

So instead of spending the day fixing everyone else’s vehicles, the Southern Charm work horse is getting a little love of its own: new brake pads and rotors all the way around, plus two new calipers on the passenger side. She should be back together and back on the road by the end of the day! 💪🏻

If nothing else, this is your friendly reminder that brake problems don’t discriminate… not even when there’s a mechanic behind the wheel 😂

Hey Alexa, play “Bad Vibrations” by A Day to Remember 🥴😂

We recently had a client reach out after noticing a heavy vibration along with a banging/clunking sound during acceleration and while shifting gears. Definitely not something you want to hear coming from your vehicle!

After some diagnostic work, Blake tracked the problem down to a failed motor mount.. and once we got it out, it was pretty easy to see why (I mean, did you SEE those pictures?!) 👀😅 The rubber inside the mount had completely separated, allowing far more engine movement than there should’ve been. That extra movement was what our client was feeling and hearing every time the engine was put under load.

We replaced the failed mount, got everything buttoned back up, and had our client back on the road without the extra shaking, rattling, and banging. Talk about a win! 💪🏻

If your vehicle suddenly starts vibrating more than usual, clunking when you accelerate, or making a new noise when it shifts, don’t ignore it! Sometimes your vehicle is pretty darn good at telling you when something isn’t right… you just have to listen and give us a shout 207-337-8102 to get on our schedule 😉🧡

It seems we have lost our ability to stop the truck today on our way to Lowell. Thankfully it happened not that far from home. We will be down and rescheduling appropriately.

Welllll… apparently we blinked and somehow it’s almost the end of August 🥴😂 BUT, with summer winding down and back-to-school season officially upon us, now is a pretty darn good time to take care of all those vehicle issues you’ve been saying you’ll “get to eventually.” 👀

I decided that today was “Bring Your Teenager to Work Day,” and man, I’m so thankful I have that opportunity. 🧡

Bentley helped out the best way he could, mostly by handing over tools and asking a million questions (you know the ones… Are you almost done yet? When are we going to stop for lunch? How many more jobs do we have today? 😂).

But when we got to the last job of the day, replacing the starter on this Toyota Corolla, something really cool happened. Instead of just watching, Bentley was right there beside me while I explained how you know a starter needs to be replaced, the steps involved in changing one, and why those steps can look a little different depending on the vehicle. It was a chance to teach him not just what to do, but why.

I learned this trade from my dad when I was growing up, and now I get to pass those same lessons on to my own son. Different driveway. Different generation. Same love, intentionality, and care behind every lesson.

Will Bentley become a mechanic like me one day? Who knows. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. That’s not really the point. The point is teaching patience, problem-solving, and pride in your work. Learning that if something’s broken, you don’t always throw it away… sometimes you roll up your sleeves and fix it. 💪🏻

That’s a big part of why we started Southern Charm Mobile Repair. We’re not a big chain or a corporate shop. We’re just a local family doing honest work, taking care of our neighbors, passing on what we’ve learned, and making some pretty special memories along the way.

Every family has something they pass down to the next generation. Around here, it just happens to come with dirty hands and a toolbox. 🧡🔧

Here’s hoping today is full of full bellies, sticky popsicle fingers, lawn chairs, fireworks, and making memories with the people you love… preferably without any missing finger casualties from the fireworks. 😂💥

One of our clients surprised us today with this cooler packed full of ice, waters, Gatorade, energy drinks, snacks, and candy to help us get through this hot summer day 🥹

Truthfully, they didn’t have to do that. They already trusted us with their vehicle, and that alone means the world to us. But they went one step further just to make sure we were taken care of, too. This is the kind of community we’re so incredibly grateful to be apart of. Neighbors looking out for neighbors. People taking care of one another, especially on days when the heat and humidity are no joke.

It’s easy to think a mobile mechanic is just someone who shows up, fixes a vehicle, and heads to the next job. But what we’ve found over the last couple of years is that this business has become so much more than that. We’ve met some of the kindest, most genuine people, and moments like this serve as one of the many reminders of why we love what we do.

To the wonderful client who put this together for us… thank you so very much. Your kindness truly meant everything to us today! To all of our SCMR family, you’ve all made us feel at home from the very beginning, and we’ll never take that for granted. We appreciate every single one of you. 🧡🔧

It’s another scorcher in Southern Maine today! 🥵☀️

While most folks are looking for shade and the A/C, we are on job #3 of 4, replacing front brake pads and rotors on this Kia Soul. Who knew bringing the garage directly to our clients would come with a complimentary sauna experience! 😂
