Today we’re taking a little break from our regularly scheduled vehicle repairs to celebrate the guy who makes Southern Charm Mobile Repair what it is! 🥳 Help us wish the man, the myth, the legend behind it all the most HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎂🎈

If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Blake, you know just how much heart he puts into what he does. From long days spent under hoods and underneath vehicles to late nights answering messages, working up estimates, and making sure our clients are taken care of, this man gives his all to this little business (and the little family) of ours. 🧡

What started as a dream has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of, and so much of that is because of the man behind the toolbox. His hard work, determination, and genuine care for the people we serve are at the heart of Southern Charm.

Hello my SCMR family!!!

This week we will be working until Thursday as we are headed down to TN for my sisters wedding!! We will be gone from Thursday to the following Monday and starting back again on Tuesday!

With that being said, we have availability for:

Tuesday at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
Thursday open availability until 3pm.

Let us know if we can take care of you before we leave!! As always we thank all of you for helping us make our dreams come true of setting up shop(eventually) here in southern Maine.

Welcome to another episode of...

FIX IT FRIDAY!!!!!

We start the day off with some front struts on a 2020 nissan kick. Safe to say it was definitely needed!!

These springs like the ones in your car, are made of forged steel. What that means is they get made while they are RED hot, they then get shaped into the spring and dipped in oil. They usually do this and few times to create a stronger tighter metal.

Sometimes you get a set with a weak spot and over the years of hitting curbs, those nasty new england potholes and hitting some sweet jumps.
They tend to Crack and cause the vehicle to lean to one side and have a terrible ride quality.

Luckily we got this one sitting hack right, and it will be smooth sailing as they migrate to the south for the winter.

Bit of an early day today but that doesn’t mean we weren’t busy!

Started the day with a diagnostic on a generator. She needs a new fuel cutoff switch.

Followed by an actuator under the dash of a Nissan rogue. They have a tendency to strip out the plastic door so hopefully we caught it in time.

Followed up with a quick oil change and diagnostic on a jeep compass. They complained of a loss of power when going up hills. Drained the oil to find it has burned over half of ours total quantity!! The catalytic converter was also extremely over temp. Leading us to believe it may be clogged and causing the loss of power.

No flow, no go!!

Monday maintenance(continued)

We diagnosed this G6 last week that had a stutter and lack of power. As well as sitting in gear at a light it was backfiring.

We did a full tune up! New spark plugs, wires, and a coil!

This G6 is feeling fly again and running smooth!

Welcome back to Maintenance Monday!!

Here’s to a good week, a busy week and a positive week!! We know your sad the weekends over (trust us we get it). But just like every Monday comes, your weekend will be back before you know it! ✨

For today’s maintenance Monday, we started off with an oil change and tire rotation for this Chevy Colorado. Oil changes are important to help keep your engines internals clean and properly lubricated to reduce friction. Tire rotations are just as important! You’re probably saying: “But Blake, don’t my tires rotate while I’m driving?” They do! But they also need to move positions on the vehicle itself.

This client thought he needed both front wheel bearings replaced.. luckily, he let me check it out first! As it turns out, his front tires had developed something called cupping, where the front edge of each tread lug begins to lift causing a ramp-like look. This cupping caused a gnarly vibration in the car body and the steering wheel. 😬

A simple rotate can fix this! We moved them to the back where they will have less weight on them, no turning, so they will only have to roll. Nice little trick of the trade that I picked up many moons ago from a previous master tech.

On to the next one over at a camp ground by the beach! 🌊

Happy weekend, SCMR Family! 👋 🍂

Remember the good ol’ Southern Charm availability posts? 😂 It’s been a minute, but we figured we’d dust ’em off and get them back in action.

Y’all have been showing UP for us lately. This past week was absolutely packed with appointments, and even after Blake pulled back into the driveway at the end of the day, the work wasn’t quite over. We've spent our evenings answering your calls, texts, Facebook messages, and emails.. putting together estimates and getting everyone onto the schedule. We’ve heard from so many of you over the last week, and we seriously can’t thank this community enough for continuing to trust our little family business.

We’ve got a handful of openings left on the calendar this coming week, so if your vehicle has been making a questionable noise, flashing a light you’ve been politely ignoring, or just needs some routine maintenance before the cold really settles in… now’s a pretty good time to get on the schedule. With how much our phone and inbox have been hopping lately, we wouldn’t count on these openings hanging around too long. 😂

We’ve also got a decent storm rolling through this weekend, so stay safe out there! If you rely on a generator when the power goes out, now is the time to make sure it starts… not when the lights are already off and you’re standing outside in sideways rain questioning every decision that led you there. 🥴

Self diagnosed starter failure by this client!

They through a new battery in it after the old one died on them, got it home, went to move it and she gave the infamous CLICK.

A good ole fashioned no crank no start.

We got here and swapped the starter out, hopped in and she roared back to life!

Another happy customer making them number 6 for the day! Also a happy Blake! They were kind enough to gift us a Vinson steak! 🥩

Definitely having this over the weekend!🤤🤤

We are headed home for a relaxing night of sending new estimates, scheduling approved work, and responding to all of you!
