Quick little story time for CMR.

While walking outside the shop to greet a customer dropping off a boat, I nearly stepped on a baby bird. The poor thing!

I scooped it up with my sleeve and tried to figure out from where this baby escaped. I heard the chatter from siblings nearby, and thanks to one of the fellows from Fairfax County, we found the other babies inside the tongue of a different boat trailer!

With more help from our mechanic (Ed) and boat repair tech (Rachel), we were able to get the other two babies out from the tongue. Thankfully this trailer had a swing-away tongue, which allowed for easier access.

After immediately calling my friends at Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, we sheltered the babies in a box with paper towels and nest remnants. Off I went to get them the help they needed without their momma, as they were now miles and miles away.

Two things from this post:
1. Always check your boat and trailer for possible wildlife that might be nesting!
