“Yes on 4,” the Maine Automotive Right to Repair campaign will launch a statewide TV and Radio advertising campaign starting Wednesday morning. The ads feature owners and employees of car and truck repair shops across Maine, including Capital Car Care in Augusta, Al’s Certified Auto Repair in Augusta, VIP Tires & Service in Auburn, and Neil’s Motors in Biddeford.

The :30 second TV ad is running in the Portland, Bangor, and Presque Isle markets. Ad transcript:

“When it comes to fixing your car, you should have a choice. But out-of-state automakers are starting to restrict access to your car’s mechanical data. That means local, independent repair shops--like mine…and mine…mine too--will lose their ability to diagnose problems and make repairs, forcing you to expensive dealerships. Right to Repair will protect your choice. Your choice. It’s your car…get it fixed where you want. Please vote Yes on Question 4…Yes on Right to Repair.”

Great Editorial:

It’s no surprise that a data access referendum question will likely make it to the Maine ballot, but any vote in favor will be forcefully challenged.
