A little update from an older post, but this 5.4L that we thought we had to do timing chains on turned out to be a bit more complicated… with further more investigation it turned out that it broke a valve, so that dropped down in there and crammed into the cylinder head, destroying the camshaft. It did also have a couple broken guides for the timing chains (which these are notorious for).
We talked it over and ended up getting a re-man Engine, which had all the updated parts in it to make it ”bulletproof”. Which from what the manufacturer said it was a high volume oil pump, updated cam phasers, cast-iron tensioners, and few other things; WHICH ASIDE from the new re-man engine we installed a new flywheel, all new idler pulleys, tensioner, power steering pump, AC compressor, belts & hoses, spark plugs, coil packs, oil dipstick tube, transmission dipstick tube, oil filter housing, exhaust manifold and bolts, starter, all new power steering lines, transmission lines, AND transmission cooler. Then we went ahead and serviced the transmission😳 WOW that was a mouth full lol😂
The truck already has 700 miles on it on the re man engine and running like a champ 👍😎
Definitely a lengthier job and we appreciate you choosing to Do It The Wireman Way.
