Honda has done wonderful things with its CVT transmission and Nissan well, hasn't, Honda has a beautiful combination of durability and a fun driving experience throughout their line. Nissan has struggled in both those areas but it's not a one sided partnership by any means. The 2025 Nissan Frontier is sure to contribute to the Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline feels more like an SUV than a pickup truck. The Frontier has long been over shadowed by the Toyota Tacoma but for its price point is absolutely the better value. The Bilstein shocks, tight steering, and 310 horsepower V-6 make it a fun naturally aspirated truck. Since Nissan went away from the box type body style to the more aggressive off-road current look its become clear they are committed to the small truck market. With the Nissan Titan being all but a bad memory this new partnership could finally be the Frontier's Time to shine.
Before all you Toyota Tacoma fan boys come for me, I drive a Tacoma. I love my Tacoma but game has to recognize game. Driving the 24-25 Frontier is a really fun experience. I like how when you give it some gas you can actually hear the engine, the smooth ride, the price point for the Pro4x compared to the TRD Pro, and get up it has. That being said my V6 Tacoma gets better gas mileage, has better resale value, and would more than likely win in reliability tests. As with any comparison there should be give and take but what excites me is the potential this partnership has to push all the brands involved to be the best version of themselves which as a whole pushes the industry forward.
Honda and Nissan reportedly are in talks to tie up. Such a merger would make the combined company one of the world's largest automakers. Plus, the potential products are intriguing: CrossCabriolet Type R when?
