šSetting Sail for Science: The R/V Oracle Partners with NOAA! š¢
We are thrilled to spotlight the newly refitted Research Vessel (R/V) Oracle as it hits the water to support vital marine research right here in Panama City Beach, Florida!
Partnering with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the specialized team at Ryan Marine and collaborating oceanographic institutions are utilizing the R/V Oracle as a cutting-edge launchpad for deep-sea discovery.
š¬ Whatās Happening on Board?
The newly optimized vessel is outfitted to support advanced marine science, including:
⢠Advanced AUV Operations: Deploying state-of-the-art Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (like the REMUS 600) to map under-explored ocean floors.
⢠Laser & 3D Imaging: Utilizing high-tech laser line scanners to capture incredibly precise, high-resolution imagery of seafloor environments.
⢠Habitat Restoration Research: Gathering crucial data for the Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities (MDBC) projects to monitor and protect vulnerable Gulf ecosystems.
From shallow-water sensor calibration near local historical wrecks to deep offshore missions 50+ miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, the R/V Oracle is proving to be an invaluable asset to the scientific community.
We are proud to see Panama City Beach serving as a hub for innovation, conservation, and world-class ocean exploration. Keep an eye on the horizon for the R/V Oracle! š
