MARSHALL O’BRIAN CLAIMS FIRST EVER WOODHULL RACEWAY RUSH CRATE
LATE MODEL FEATURE.
AIDEN GROVER MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW IN MODIFIEDS, KENNY PEOPLES
JR.CLAIMS CRATE SPORTSMAN, ANDREW WHRITENOUR IN STREET STOCKS,
BRANDON CONKLIN TAKES HOBBY STOCK KING BIG BOP DIRTY 30.
OTHER WINNERS INCLUDE CADIN THOMAS IN WARRIORS, AND MICHAEL
DICKERSON CONTINUES DOMINANCE IN QUAD C AND JOSEPH BIRDSALL
CLAIMS HS KING OF THE RING.

(Woodhull, NY) Under picture perfect weather the Woodhull Raceway was able to pull
off one of their more aggressive afternoon and evening agendas of their 2026 schedule
of events.
Before the gates swung for their regular night of race competition the track held its 2026
Hall of Fame Inductions including some of greatest ever involved in the 61-year history
of the Steuben County Facility.
When racing got underway fans were treated to plenty of race action which included a
slew of familiar faces finding Pepsi Victory Lane in addition to an all-new event winner.
Marhsall O’Brian of nearby Addison like many other success stories at Woodhull over
the years graduated from the Woodhull Warrior Division. A youth class pitting up and
coming potential stars in 4-cylinder Mini Stocks.
O’Brian was one of those graduates and when he came of age to move up he and his
family decided to go right straight into RUSH Crate Model Racing versus another
upstart division.
He took his knocks over the past several seasons trying to master his craft and finally
after the 2025 season the decision was made to invest the money in an all-new chassis
and stay with the RUSH CLM Division.
That decision has paid off in huge dividends as O’Brian immediately turned heads in
early 2026 finding the necessary speed to compete with the upper echelon in the class.
Last week a last place finish due to some mechanical issues found the team looking at
possibly dropping out of the top three in points with the final point show of 2026 looming
next week, however the team was able to rally back on this night and pick-up their first
win in a class which at Woodhull has been dominated by Brett Marlatt and Steve
LeBarron over the past several seasons.
O’Brian would line up outside the front starting row alongside Brian Knowles of Corning
as the pair would bring the field to green for their twenty-lap feature.
Once out in front Marhsall O’Brian was not going to be denied his first ever A-Main win
in the Southern Tier Customs sponsored division as he was under fire from no other
than LeBarron who has won countless features and turned thousands of laps around
the high banked one-third of a mile clay oval.
As the checkered flag dropped ending the twenty-lap affair it was O’Brian holding off
LeBarron with another young gun in Rickie Loucks of Campbell completing the top three
podium finishers.
Wyatt White, who is the son of former Woodhull Raceway owners Ted and Brandi White
had another solid performance in his sophomore RUSH CLM season finishing fourth
after lining up seventh on the grid while ageless veteran Joe Layfield of Bolivar
completed the top five advancing from the ninth starting position.
Heading into the Season Point Finale on September Brett Marlatt owns a slim nineteen-
point advantage over LeBarrron as the track title will be settled between the pair.
2025 Insinger Performance Modified track champion, Aiden Grover has had what he
would even he would consider a rollie coaster season.
After winning the season opener on April 18 the Buffalo State Engineering Sophomore
had fallen into the clutches of poor draws and in some cases even poorer finishes.
His primary car owned by Bill Dominic of Addison suffered an engine failure forcing
Grover back into his family-owned machine for several weeks, however the results were
anything but eye catching as the team struggled to find speed.
That all changed last week when the Bill Dominic 21g returned to action and with fresh
Mullins power between the rails he would go on to his second win on the campaign and
it has not stopped there as Grover drove through a stacked top end field from outside
the fourth starting row to pickup his third in of the year and second in a row.
Once out in front and in clean air a potential family feud was brewing between the
Father/Son duo of Russ Morseman and Russ Morseman IV.
Morseman IV who has been focusing much of his time and energy in 2026 to the Super
Dirtcar Big Block Modified Series is using that valuable traveling experience much to his
advantage as he was able to hold off dear old dad on this night as IV would claim
second after starting fourth in the fourteen-car starting field. Russ Morseman would
complete the podium after lining up sixth on the opening grid.
June 27 Modified feature winner Brian Doolittle has fallen into a slump as of late,
however a nice fourth place run should boost his confidence leading into next week’s
point finale after starting fifth on the opening green and raced within the lead pack the
entire distance.
After suffering through problems last week, veteran Savona driver, Greg Crooker of the
Famed Crooker Racing Family, was finally able to shake the monkey off the teams back
as he rounded out the top five coming from the twelfth starting slot.
Dayton Brewer finished sixth at the completion and will lead the point battle heading into
the last point paying race of the season next week with only one other competitor in the
hunt with that being Ron Cartwright Jr. of Fillmore.
It has been a rough season for Kenny Peoples Jr. of Addison. Having lost his Woodhull
Hall of Fame Father, Kenny Sr. before the season got under way he and his dad had
made the decision to move full time into the Modified Division after claiming numerous
Crate Sportsman Championships over the past several seasons.
Peoples jr. will tell you that 2026 had been anything but a fun experience as he suffered
through a rash of issues with the Modified until the decision was made a few weeks ago
to put the 602 Crate engine back in the car and go back to the class where he had most
of his success and the results were immediately felt.
Two weeks ago, he picked-up the Annual Crate Sportsman King of the Ring then
backed it up with a win in the Hometown Excavation Crate Sportsman feature.
Last week he lost out to current high point man, Blake Parsons of Beaver Dams, but
using the luck of the feature re-draw on this night he was able to take full advantage of
his outside front row starting spot to go on and pick-up win two on the season holding
off Grant of Cresco, Pa. who was making one of his very rare appearances at Woodhull.
The Ridge Runner AJ Costley of Knoxville, Pa. lined up sixth on the grid and in only his
second appearance at Woodhull in 2026 was able to prove he still has what it takes to
try and conquer the High Banks as he rode home for third at the finish.
Four-time 2026 CS feature winner Quintin Buchanan of Horseheads began the
Hometown Excavation twenty-five lap feature in spot four and that is right where he
would finish as current high point contender, Blake Parsons moved from eighth to
complete the top five.
Heading into the Season Point Finale next week, it is a two-horse race between
Parsons who leads over Buchanan who still has a mathematical chance.
Should Parsons hold on and win the title it will mean the 19-year-old will have won 2026
Championships at both Woodhull and Outlaw Speedways.
In the Ken’s Auto Hobby Stock Division, it was a hectic night as the popular division
raced in their traditional King Bop/Allison Pierce Dirty Thirty feature event.
Named in Memory of the late Joe Birdsall who competed in the Mini Stock Division until
his premature death due to Covid along with the deceased Mother-in Law of Joseph
Birdsall this annual event has become a staple at Woodhull over the past half decade.
The brainchild of Joseph “The Bird” Birdsall this event pays plenty of money with
mountains of post-race lap money and other contingencies.
By the luck of the feature re-draw current point leader Brandon Conklin of Campbell
along with Scotty Brown of Wellsboro would lead the field to green with Conklin
dominating the action from start to finish in the extra distance special.
With Conklin in clean air all eyes were on the battle for second as a pair of three-time
2026 feature winners in Brian Austin and Joseph Birdsall were mowing the field down
from their fourth row starting positions.
However, Conklin did not win last years Hobby Stock Track Championship by luck and
on this night, he showed his experience in claiming feature win five on the year and with
the “W” all but Unofficially clinches the 2026 HS Track title.
Unofficially Birdsall and Resse Hackett both have a mathematical shot at claiming the
championship; however, it will only be with a lot of help from Conklin who can determine
his own destiny next Saturday.
Chasing Conklin, Austin and Birdsall across the line were Greg Young of Corning and
Reese Hackett of Canisteo as the group would complete the top five finishers.
Second generation Jasper, NY pilot Andrew Whritenour once again carried the tradition
of a Whritenour hitting pay dirt at Woodhull as the high school teenager took full
advantage of his inside pole position starting position to get the early jump on fellow
front tow starter, Brian Butler of Hornell as the duo would lead the charge of the thirteen
car starting field in the Joe Willcox Performance Street Stock twenty-lap feature.
Whritenour would get the jump and never look back holding off Butler to claim his
second feature win of the season and backing up his August 15 first ever victory since
graduating from the Hobby Stock Division.
As the pair flashed under the checkered flag, current point leader Teddy Morseman was
able to hold off August 8 feature winner, Joe Giardina to complete the podium and
strengthen his hold on the point lead over Glenn Whritenour who could only muster up
an eighth-place finish.
Following Giardina, who started fifth on the grid across the stripe was Corning’s Luke
Boom who completed the top five after starting seventh.
Morseman holds a more than comfortable point advantage over GW heading into the
point finale next week with Andrew Whritenour in third to far back to have a chance at
his first ever SS Championship.
Prior to intermission, the Ken’s Collision Woodhull Warriors were on track for their 6-lap
feature and as he had done eight times previously entering the event, Cadin Thomas
was able to control the action in route to win nine of the campaign.
However, the track title still is not a lock as Thomas needs to show up next week and
compete as he tries to hold off Chace Warner who sits second in the 2026-point battle
having won two features thus far.
The Lowery Family Farms Quad C twenty-lap feature capped off the night of
competition and similar to what he has accomplished five times previously coming into
the night, Michael Dickerson of Elmira once again dominated the action coming from
twelfth on the grid to pick up win six and with that clinched the 2026 Lowery Family
Farms Quad C Track Championship.
Tony Dickerson, also of Elmira had nothing for Michael Dickerson but his sixteenth to
second performance was certainly a head turner for sure as multi time Woodhull Mini
Stock Track Champ Wesley Houghtaling of Hornell completed the podium advancing
from the eleventh starting slot.
Fourth went to Kayleigh Morseman who is having a career season as the third gen
Cameron Mills competitor has a lock on the runner-up spot in the decisive point
standings.
Completing the top five was Sherman Gage of Ceres who lined up eighth on the grid.
Earlier in the evening the Annual Hobby Stock King of the Ring Single Elimination One-
On-One Special took place with Joseph Birdasll of Canisteo claiming the winner’s
check, donning the customary cape and crown and owning the bragging rights for
another year.
