I think I may take the lifter valley cover to work and take a skim pass over it so it looks less cast, even though I sand blasted it. Gotta find some flex fuel injectors, found the braided hose under my bed, need to pick up another alternator, and I’m thinking about making my own power steering pulley at work. I want to use the new CNC mill we got so I can make it have spokes. You know race car stuff for a s**t box on 39.5s, lol.

Got this far and realized I needed to run the ARP thread cleaning tap through this bank of cylinders before I put the other head on. They are just stock 706 heads with new valve seals, I relapped the valves, dual .660 lift springs from TICK, TICK’s trunnion upgrade, Tool steel retainers, titanium keepers, and ARP hardware though out.

Gotta dig through my stuff and see if I have ARP oil pan bolts to go with the 7 quart pan. Soaking the lifters and found my 4.040 bore .040 thick head gaskets to get 11.09:1 compression with these 706 heads. The 227/235-.618/.605 110 LSA cam with 3 degree advance should make some good torque in this Lq4 shortblock. Driving it the other day for a few short minutes made me miss it. Finding some key parts I hid from myself under my bed were ones I thought I still needed to order. The Nv4500 is still on the pallet, I need to pull the engine and trans out of the k5 to get the tcase to work. Gotta bore the input out so I can run the beefier 32 spline version.

Heads are back together for the 6.0 had to order one more thing. Then I can button up this engine build, and get the new to it drivetrain in the k5. It’s going wheeling this year.

If only I could one day just back half the Jeep, pick up a dodge NV4500 I think I can bolt the 4:1, Tcase. Only if I go all race car on this from an LS swap. Aluminum dash, and I think I could make the factory HVAC stuff work just do my own vents and adapt them. Who knows maybe one day.

Got one head cleaned up and assembled today. Now just got to blend the chambers to the diameter of the bores. hopefully I can have the long block buttoned up this coming week.

Going to get some layout fluid from work and scribe the inside of the head gasket on the heads. And blend the sharp edges into the cylinder. Going to clean up the valves and lap them back in. Should make some for horsetorques with more compression with the smaller chambers, cam, a fully upgraded valvetrain, and ARP fasteners through out should keep it all together long time . 6point0with5point3heads

Got all the rockers assembled minus the snap rings, another set of 706 heads ordered to bump the compression up on the LQ4 going in the k5. Looking at ordering a balancer to round out the engine build up for the k5.

Made an installer tool for the rocker trunion upgrade for the 6.0 going in the k5 this morning. The 5.3 started making more noise so I guess it’s time to finish putting together this engine, prepping the nv4500, and boring out the input on my spare NP205 to mate it all together.

I’m really hoping this year I can pick up a square body truck. Plan is 6.0/4L80e/NP205/60 front/14 bolt rear. 6.0 will get a cam package, ARP hardware, and 70mm turbo. 80e will get a shift kit, good clutches, and a 2500-2800 converter. If it’s like any of my other projects I’ll be collecting parts for another few years and probably 10 years before it done. But this is my plan to have a square body tow rig for the Jeep and k5.

The clamp is made that I’ll build my bracket off of for the power steering reservoir. Making my list of stuff I need done to take it wheeling in 2 weeks. Gonna be a lot of late nights over the next 2 weeks but it will be worth it.

Gotta finish welding the fender up and make the patch panel work. Then it’s off to the driverside.
