π Race Day Recap | Heavy Class Debut π
This weekend marked a big milestone for Brody.
Shortly after the season started, Brody hit the 100-pound mark. That left us with a decision: stay in Senior for the remainder of the points season, even though he was over the weight limit, or move him up to Heavy and start preparing for the future.
We chose the future.
At just 9 years old, Brody is now racing against kids who are several years older than him. We know there will be growing pains, but we also know this experience will make him a better driver in the long run. So we loaded up and headed to North Georgia for his Heavy class debut.

* Feature 1: P3
* Feature 2: P2
Feature 1
We had an absolute rocket. Brody worked his way into second and was closing in on the leader. As the leaders approached a lap car, the leader hesitated while deciding how to make the pass. Brody saw an opening and went for it. Unfortunately, the lead car came down, caught Brodyβs right rear tire, and sent him flipping.
The crash left us with a flat tire, but thanks to an incredible group of racers and families, everyone jumped in to help get us back on track. We canβt thank you all enough.
Unfortunately, we didnβt realize the impact had also damaged the engine kill switch. When the green flag dropped, the engine shut off on the backstretch. Larry signaled for Brody to pull off the track, but without enough momentum he couldnβt make it to the pits and came to a stop. Once we got back, we were disqualified because of the signal to exit under green.
(Which we would have been DQ anyways for exiting the track under green π)
Feature 2 β P2 π₯
Sometimes disappointment creates determination.
Brody climbed back in with something to prove and drove one of the best races weβve seen. Every driver raced hard, raced clean, and showed tremendous respect for one another. It was an exciting battle from start to finish.
Congratulations to David Wheeler on the win! Weβll take home a hard-earned second place and a lot of confidence.

Qualifying
* P1 for both features.
Feature 1 & Feature 2 ππ₯π₯
Brody led both races from green flag to checkered flag, but neither one came easy. He had another driver glued to his rear bumper the entire race, making him earn every lap.
A huge thank you to both competitors for racing with respect and keeping it clean. Those are the kinds of races everyone loves to watch.
Overall, we couldnβt be prouder of Brodyβs first weekend in the Heavy classes. There were highs, lows, and lessons learned, but he showed resilience, maturity, and speed all weekend long.
On to the next one. ππ
