The highs and lows of kart racing. The night started out really strong by qualifying 2nd out of 20 karts. I’m not sure what we need to do to set quick time but it seems one of Ashton’s strengths is definitely laying down a solid qualifying lap!

Ashton started on the pole in his heat race and lead 4 of the 6 lap race ultimately finishing 2nd. He did a great job but we just didn’t have the pace to hold on for the win.

We rolled off 5th for the A Main. Dad decided to change the gearing on the kart to help find the speed we were missing in the heat race. Ashton was racing hard but made a mistake causing him to spin while running 4th. Unfortunately not all the karts were able to avoid him stopped right in the racing line. Ashton took the hit to the right front of the kart causing significant damage and ending our race before it really even got going. We’ll get the kart torn apart and come up with a plan to get parts replaced but unfortunately we likely won’t be racing at all this coming week.
