💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 Tonight marks a 47 year aviation career. Yes one lucky upholstery guy walked in as a mechanic at Piedmont Airlines that day. No FAA Airframe and PowerPlant License which was required for being hired as a mechanic at that time. Just one out of 4 very lucky trimmers that were hired when they were in need for interior guys on the 737 wide body mods.
I've seen several mergers to what has now become American Airlines. I've walked picket lines when necessary and enjoyed the richness they shared when times were good.
I obtained my Airframe and Powerplant license about 11 years into my career. I've worked in Heavy Aircraft Maintenance, the seat shop building up seats, covering bulheads and galleys, the sheet metal galley shop, the plating shop, Ground Equipment and found a home in Plant Maintenance about 20 years ago.
I get ask about everyday when I'm going to retire. In all honesty when compared to past jobs I retired the day I walked in August 6th, 1979.🙃 I'm pretty much day to day now. I could decide to hang it up tonight or hell, I might just go for 50.🤷‍♂️
Signed ..... Sometimes all a guy needs is a break. I got mine in 79. It's been one hell of a great career .

What can I say, I was born for a union job.🙃

You won't find bikes stacked in like cordwood anymore but one by one, still backing that shirt up.😉

This one rolled in a couple of weeks ago with a seat build already foamed up ready to cover 😳😳😳, needless to say that seat went in the trash where it belonged. I came very close to turning it right back around but decided to take it on, build a seat that actually fits and charge accordingly. Dash not mounted down in rear. Tank covers seat pocket not symmetrical and a god awful mess of audio wiring to somehow build a seat pan for. We went over the tank and dash a bit to get the seat
nose symmetrical and trapping the dash in place , spent over three hours on a tape out over the wiring and sealing the area out to allow fiberglass to be laid.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, shirt backed up once
more 😉
