Tracing its roots to 1989, Fine Time began with a core group of friends that had a mutual respect for music, celebration and creativity, toped off with a campfire. The Fine Time began on the rocky bank of the Walnut River in southern Kansas where weekend after weekend we enjoyed our freedom. After being introduced to a popular festival in South Central Kansas, just up the Walnut River, the unprepa

red friends set up camp. The outpouring harmony of the Pecan Grove was heaven. The sound of acoustic music day and night blessed our ears as the hundreds of campfires burned. After years of attendance and enjoyment, Fine Time Camp has grown from a select few to a family of friends that continues to grow. Fine Time Camp began to host the Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship of the World in 2002, which has become a highlight of a September Saturday. In 2006, a wooden platform was picked up from a garage sale and placed in the camp. Immediately artists gravitated to play on this new venue. The camp engineer got to work and the next year the Fine Time Stage was born. We support music, celebration, creativity and campfires! Fine Time is a lifestyle and we invite you to join us.

Looking back over our years at the festival, it’s hard to find someone that captures its essence as perfectly as Ryan Hodgson-Rigsbee. A little Fine Time logo history for you today! One fine evening after listening to music at Kirby’s Beer Store in Wichita, Kansas, the after party gravitated to Steve and Gar’s house, as many nights did at that time. It was here that I had the pleasure of having a conversation with the amazing artist Josh Finley, who sketched out our beloved Fine Time logo. At a not too later date, Josh Finley provided us with an expansion of our logo that encompasses all that is Fine Time: music, libations, and Fine Times!

It was usually around this time of year that we would have our annual Fine Time business meeting, to discuss the upcoming festival and events. However, two years ago, our good friend and Fine Time president, Dustin Bahm, disappeared off to California, never to be seen again. If you’ve seen this man, please send him to Winfield this 3rd weekend in September.
