PLEASE NOTE! VEHICLE SHIPS OUT OF LAS VEGAS, NV. SHIPPING DIRECT TO PURCHASER& #8217;S DOORSTEP AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE. 12,574 ORIGINAL MILES, 20,236 KILOMETERS. ABSOLUTELY MUSEUM-QUALITY RC30, MECHANICALLY AND COSMETICALLY PERFECT. SERIOUS COLLECTORS ONLY.Honda& #8217;s racing evolution during the 1980s and 90s spawned a multitude of incredible machines: the NR500, NS250, NS500, NSR500, RC45, NR750 and of course, the VFR750R RC30. Each of these pushed the boundaries of the time and brought something brand new to motorcycle technology. The Honda VFR750R, also more commonly known by its model code, RC30, was perhaps the most successful of these pioneering bikes. Its mission was simple: To win on the track. Its racing legacy is something that is still talked about today, and the Honda VFR750R RC30 has become one of the most desirable bikes to own for racers and collectors alike.Honda VFR750R RC30 SpecsEngine: 748 cc liquid-cooled V4Power: 118 bhp @ 11,000 rpmSeat height: 785 mm / 31 inchesFuel tank: 18 litres / 4.75 GalDry Weight: 185 kg / 408 lbsTop speed: 155 mph / 250 kphVFR750R HistoryWhen the World Superbikes replaced the TTF1 in 1988, track-only bikes, such as Honda& #8217;s RVF, were no longer eligible. For homologation, Honda designed the RC30 as a limited edition road bike selling just enough to satisfy the rules for World Superbikes. The first 1,000 of the new bike launched later that year in Japan. Despite the high price tag of 1.5 million Yen ($15,000 or 8,000 in 1987) the VFR750R RC30 sold out rapidly. To comply with Japanese regulations, Honda restricted the bikes sold in Japan to 77 bhp.1988 saw the Honda VFR750R RC30 released in Europe, followed by America in 1990, this time with the full 112 bhp. By 1990 Honda had already won the first two World Superbike titles and claimed several wins at the Isle of Man TT.The World Superbike ruling (that track only bikes were ineligible to enter the championship), gave a technological boost to production bikes. Forcing manufacturers to sell their competition bikes, albeit with a few permissible changes, meant that in order to be competitive on the track, the corresponding road bike would naturally be built to a high specification.Honda engineers used this opportunity to create the ultimate V4 sports bike with a host of advanced racing technology. It& #8217;s 90& #176; 748cc V4 engine housed 16 valve, titanium connecting rods and gear driven double overhead cams producing 112 bhp at 11,000 rpm.The main frame, subframe and swingarm were made from aluminium. A preload adjuster for the rear shock and adjustable front forks were also included. For what was essentially a race bike the riding position was relatively relaxed, which certainly favoured long distance riders. The iconic single sided swingarm (sourced from the Elf-Honda endurance racer) had both the disc brake and sprocket mounted on the left side. This negated the need to remove the chain allowing for quick release rear wheel changes; perfect for the track.Preload adjustment was fitted to the front forks and the wheels and brake pads were given quick release mountings to further accelerate pit stops. As before, Honda developed the RC30 for the track first and road second.Further changes were made to the RC30 in 1992, with Honda tweaking the engine to improve the output to 118 bhp. Several colour options were offered over the years with a few limited editions produced along the way. The RC30 was replaced by the VFR800F in 1998 losing its racing pedigree and becoming a touring machine.Honda VFR750R PerformanceWhen Honda first announced the release of the RC30 in summer 1987, the interest was so high that there was a draw for eligibility to buy one in Japan. When it finally arrived the media praised it endlessly and despite the high price tag, twice that of the Suzuki GSX-R, did not diminish its appeal. Unsurprisingly, every dealer immediately sold out. The RC30 immediately achieved success on the track. Fred Merkel won the first World Superbike Championship title in 1988 and 1989 (both the rider& #8217;s and manufactu

The BB1 (or Bimota BMW 1) was also the Rimini firm& #8217;s first model to feature a powertrain from a BMW, though the liquid-cooled, 652cc, four-stroke single in the BB1 was actually produced by Austrian-outfit, Rotax.Originally utilized by the Bavarian brand& #8217;s F650 & #8220;Funduro& #8221;, the big thumper was paired with a 33mm Mikuni BST carb and a custom GP-inspired exhaust system terminating in a pair of underseat mufflers. The BB1 put down 48hp at 6,500 rpm and 42.7 ft-lbs of torque at 6,000 rpm, which was enough to propel the sub-400 lb model to a top speed of around 100 mph.The BB1 Supermono was originally created by the small marque to compete in the & #8216;90s Italian Supermono Championship, alongside the likes of Ducati& #8217;s legendary Supermono. The race-sped BB1 used a 725cc version of the production model& #8217;s engine that was capable of delivering 75hp at 10,000rpm. Unfortunately Bimota couldn& #8217;t iron out the kinks in time, and the Rimini-made Rotax-powered single only went on to win a single race.A big part of what made the Supermono so noteworthy was its top-shelf running gear and advanced chassis design. The single was constructed around an oval-section aluminum alloy tube frame and swing-arm & #8212; both of which were derived from the firm& #8217;s Mantra model & #8212; married to a 43mm Paioli fork and rear shock. The bike also got forged Marchesini rims and a single 320mm disc and four-pot Brembo caliper, though a second front disc was offered as a factory add-on.The BB1 was dressed in unmistakably & #8216;90s Italian bodywork. The model& #8217;s fuel-cell was actually housed in the belly-pan under the Rotax mill, resulting in a very low center of gravity. A faux tank cover up top actually sports a nifty little glove compartment, while providing leverage in the corners. Other trick little accouterments included carbon fiber fenders and instrument housing, and front turn signals integrated into the back of the mirrors & #8212; a feature that more-than-a-decade-later became a staple on sport bikes. In Giorgio Sarti& #8217;s book, Bimota, 25 Years of Excellence (Giorgio Nada Editori, 1999), he explains that the Supermono was well-received in Germany and Japan, though the rest of the global market showed little enthusiasm for the BB1 upon its release. This, compounded with the relatively minute number of units produced, makes BB1 specimens incredibly rare today, especially on American shores. With extremely light weight and potent and punchy one-cylinder engines, Super-singles are some of the most enjoyable, characterful, and grin-inducing track day toys in existence. While there are a myriad of aftermarket kits to turn 450cc motocross bikes into lightweight road-racers, none of them carry the pedigree, prestige, or the overall exotic appeal afforded by factory-made Italian supermonos.
