Good morning friends and family! Alex Douthett is back in the hospital with another possible Chrones disease flare up with severe pain. After being in the ER all day yesterday, Alex‘s blood pressure kept dropping low and they ended up having to put him on medication to raise it. Doctors admitted him into medical surgical ICU in case he needs surgery on his intestines (they think he has sepsis in his stomach from a leaking hole in his intestines… surgery is not off the table yet) as well as because of the low blood pressure. Overnight they ended up putting him on oxygen because his oxygen level (SATS) got down to 77. His blood pressure has been as low as 70’s over 40s.. consistently. They have him on four different iv meds for the blood pressure & antibiotics. This came out of nowhere again yesterday morning Alex was feeling great. All of his doctors clinical appointments were good. he was supposed to see his G.I. doctor for the first time on November 5 but now this happens so surprise, he’ll be seeing them sooner. They can’t Scope him right away because the inflammation is causing his intestines to be weak and tear easily. Thank you, thank you thank you for all the prayers from the last go-round in Tulsa! But I ask for prayers once again. Please pray for Alex and our family. Thank you so much for all the loving support!

Good morning, friends and family! it’s been a crazy month with Alex’s health like a roller coaster. We were able to get Alex stabilized enough to get him home to Colorado last Thursday. he’s been home but is still sick throwing up throughout the day every day. He’s only able to have a liquid diet. he will be seeing the kidney doctors on the fourth and his transplant annual clinic with testing on 7 October. I got his labs drawn yesterday to check on everything since he’s been discharged. His kidney function is much better and back to his baseline at stage two kidney failure which is very good. However, when they drew his blood yesterday, they also saw that his BNP level is extremely high. It’s the highest it’s ever been indicating Heart Failure. After speaking with the transplant team yesterday, they said that they are going to recheck it on the fourth, and if it’s still as high as it is, we are going to have to biopsy his heart for rejection. Those of you who have been through this with us over the years know what a huge risk a biopsy would be for Alex. Last time they did a biopsy they had to take 36 pieces of his heart to get a few clean samples with all the scar tissue! As if Alex hasn’t been going through enough, this new development of Heart Failure just puts him under that much more stress. We all knew that the older he gets the closer it’s going to be that he needs another Heart Transplant. I know I’ve been asking for prayers from everybody, but I would like to ask for continued prayers for Alex and for our family. Please pray for me as his mother that I may be able to be and do all that he needs of me in order to survive this!
