Falcon Motorsports got its first taste of the karting world! 🏁

Our team visited Comet Kart Sales in Greenfield, Indiana, then headed to New Castle Motorsports Park to get behind the wheel of rental karts. It was a chance for students to experience karting firsthand as we prepare for our own kart projects as part of the Purdue evGrand Prix.

Thanks to Comet Kart Sales and New Castle Motorsports Park for being part of the experience. We’re excited to bring what we learned back to the shop!

P-TECH's new Falcon Motorsports team has been going through the fundamentals of engines and lighting. The FMS Media Team Zoe, Violet, Eli, and Marleigh have been working on how to properly use and control lighting, while the FMS Production Team Daegan, Lane, Zane, Kolby, Major, and Ryelee, have been working on main parts of an engine and engine basics.

Our students made significant progress on the Falcon Motorsports race car this year and learned a tremendous amount throughout the process. While the car will not be completed in time to compete this year, we will continue working with the car owner to finish the build for participation next season.

The race car will continue to be an important part of the Falcon Motorsports learning experience alongside our new go-kart program, which will have students build and test electric karts to participate in the Purdue evGrandPrix. Using both platforms will give students the opportunity to work with and compare real-world engineering and mechanical systems. Together, the kart and car will provide hands-on opportunities for students to apply classroom concepts while developing practical technical, problem-solving, teamwork, business, and media skills.

And don’t miss the Rich Vogler Classic at Wi******er Speedway on July 19! The event will feature racing from the Vores Compact Touring Series powered by Mercer County Electric and USAC Silver Crown sprint cars at the World's Fastest Half Mile!

Falcon Motorsports media team spent the afternoon with Daniel Redmond at the Wi******er Speedway. They got some great footage for their upcoming FMS video and even got to ride some laps in the pace car!

Today in FMS, the team worked on vinyl wrapping the bumper and hood of the car, and welding the base plates for the roll cage.

A roll cage is a built-in skeleton of steel bars inside a vehicle, designed to protect the driver from impacts and crashes.
