Philip Morley Furniture Company

Philip Morley Furniture Company I am a custom furniture maker located near Austin, Texas. I am not only a woodworker but also a teacher. It is my hope to educate and

My studio is a one-man shop in which I design and build one-of-a-kind furniture for clients across the United States. My studio is also my home where I reside with my wife and three wonderful children. I originally was trained in carpentry and joinery under the City Guilds in London, England. I had the opportunity to work on refurbishing historic buildings in London, including a project at Covingt

on Gardens. I turned my interest to furniture while working with an RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) graduate in Providence, Rhode Island. I fell in love with the precision required in furniture making and the challenge that every piece brought of forming wood into functional yet aesthetically inspirational pieces of art. The craftsmanship involved was truly inspiring. Each project is a new journey in this process. I was able to apply my knowledge of traditional joinery to the art of furniture making. Indeed, the integrity of each piece is every bit as important as the appearance.

Post 4 of 4…These are the completed pieces of Nine Month Comprehensive students, including their case pieces and several curvature projects.

The number of hours they’ve put in to prepare for this show is remarkable. This programme demands genuine dedication and encourages each student to stretch their abilities.

I’m incredibly proud of the work they’ve produced, and very grateful to my co-teachers .studio .h.harris It’s been a real pleasure watching 12 individuals from different backgrounds and levels of experience grow over the past eight months—each of them has come a long way.

The work is on display at the Messler Gallery—if you’re in the area, do take a look.

Webb desk in walnut. named after the client that commissioned it. This desk and a 12 foot dining table and a 9 foot kitchen table went out last week to Texas. I will share more photos this week.

Exciting day. When I sold my slider in Texas, I knew I would need to buy another one one day. But I never thought I would be able to get such a beautiful saw that someone has spent so much time putting their heart into the restoration. Big thank you too. for doing an incredible job on the saw and for holding onto it for me. If you don’t already give him a follow, you definitely should. also a big thank you to my friends from. that came out in the freezing cold to help get this off the trailer. It wasn’t stressful at all.😅😅

My new class is now available for pre-sale over at 🎉

In this course, I’ll walk you through three different bent lamination techniques — from start to finish. We’ll cover template design, form construction, and all the details that go into creating elegant, flowing curves in your work.

If you’ve been wanting to add refined curves to your furniture, this class is for you.
Swipe to see photos from a recent commission where I used these exact techniques!
